Seminole is a small town in south central Florida, bordered by Lake Worth to the west and Palm Beach County to the east. The population was 9,014 at the 2010 census. In 1832 however, after two years of warfare between American settlers and Spanish forces in what is now Fort Myers (then part of Mexican territory), the region was ceded to Britain as part of the Treaty of Cudahy - which ended the war. As part of this deal, Spain agreed not to settle any more Indians within its boundaries - thus legitimizing their presence hereabouts. British rule lasted until 1847 when Florida became a US statehood because of pressure from western settlers who saw Seminole as an obstacle to their expansionism. Under US jurisdiction since then (although still governed by a royal government), Seminole experienced some significant change marked by waves of immigration beginning in the late 19th century and continuing through present day: most notably during World War II when Japanese-Americans were forcibly interned here during The Holocaust; after which some Koreans also came here over time (most recently Haitians). After World War II ended many residents moved out or left for various reasons including joblessness or other economic hardships following The Great Depression; however others decided to stay behind due largely to nostalgia for those days before Chain migration took hold across much of Latin America leading eventually to large numbers Of Hispanics living here today – making Seminole one of South Florida’s largest Hispanic enclaves outside Miami-Dade County proper!
In 1838, Seminole Indian leaders signed a treaty with the United States in which they agreed to cede all of their lands in Florida. The treaty also specified that the Seminoles would be allowed to keep their firearms and hunting rights.
