At this time there were only five homes in Sebastian with just over 100 people living there during its peak years around 1900 total according to history books written about that time period! Today however, due to advancements in technology and easy access to other parts of southeastern Florida many people live within walking distance or less than an hour away from both downtown Miami and key university campuses like USF/Miami Dade College/Universidad Carlos III Novena (UCL) making it easier than ever for them to get involved with local businesses and services! In recent years some exciting changes have taken place within Sebastian including: 1) A new high school wing opened up adjacent to our old elementary school building in 2009 providing more opportunities for students from all sections of society to achieve success together; 2) The opening up of our agricultural center allowing us greater opportunity both domestically & internationally; 3) A comprehensive citywide redevelopment plan launched last year giving us new parks, housing developments & retail stores as well as creating jobs across multiple sectors; 4) A recent renovation project update complete with brand spanking new roofs & updated infrastructure inside & out resulting in an even more welcoming environment overall!

In 1933, Sebastian annexed part of neighboring unincorporated Key West and renamed it Sebastian City. On November 3rd, 1935 Hurricane Flossie struck the state and much of the eastern Panhandle leaving Sebastian nearly destroyed along with most of Key West. By January 9th 1937 both towns were rebuildable and reopened as cities once again under their respective names: Sebastian (Key West) and Key West (Sebastian City). However, because key west had been closed to inhabitants for more than fifty years after being impacted by hurricanes there is no definitive documentation about what took place between those two dates or how much damage actually occurred during that time period. The next notable event happened on May 7th 1959 when an Afro-American students group seeking open housing protested against segregated schools policies at Kendall High School in nearby Weston Park while also vocalizing their opposition to racism within local government units throughout Miami-Dade County limits including Sebastian where they felt they were not given proper representation due to its white majority population. This protest ultimately led to violent encounters between police officers and protesters across multiple areas of downtown Miami; some property damage occurred as a result which raised public awareness about race relations in South Florida at this time - something which would continue into the following decades until increasing integration eventually ensued throughout all levels of government bodies throughout Dade County communities including Sebastian where today black/non-white residents are officially considered citizens regardless of residency status according to Voting Rights Act requirements.)
