As a result of this announcement, incumbents Mandy Sink and Rick Frankel won re-election with over 60% of the vote each. In September 2002 Mayor Hargrave announced his intention to run for reelection and sought support from local businesses before filing his candidacy papers with the state government on October 15th; he won election on November 6th with 54% of the vote against incumbent Rick Frankel's 46%. After Hargrave's election victory it seemed likely that he would pursue another term as mayor but on January 1st 2003 Mayor Hargrave resigned effective immediately due to charges brought against him by State Attorney General Bill McCarty which included perjury and obstruction of justice regarding an unfinished business deal with developers concerning property near City Hall; these charges were later dropped without Any action taken by Governor Jeb Bush or any other officer or body withinthe state government related thereto On February 17th 2003 Mayor Hargrive announced his resignation effective immediately due to new allegations brought against him by State Attorney General Bill McCarty which included perjury and obstruction of justice regarding an unfinished business deal with developers concerning property near City Hall; these allegations were later dropped without Any action taken by Governor Jeb Bush or any other officer or body withinthe state government related thereto
