In 1969, Donnie's son Scott Fenton donated land to make room for a shopping mall in Satellite Beach which would be named after him. The shopping mall opened in 1984 and became one of the most successful malls in Florida. Satellite Beach is home to two hospitals: Memorial Hospital & Health System and University Medical Center - Pensacola. These two hospitals are both part of Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance companies which helps keep costs low for residents without health care options outside of county government clinics or specialty hospitals. The Town also provides many services such as parks, libraries, grocery stores (including convenience stores), restaurants, nightlife venues (such as bars and clubs) as well as community service programs that help with local development projects such as beautification or street lighting changes

As of the 2010 census, Satellite Beach had a population of 3,812. The community was founded in 1925 by Colonel Harry K. Jansen and his wife Ida Bendix as an air force base for workers helping to build Camp Blanding on Ormond Beach Boulevard. The first home built in Satellite Beach was the "Bendix Trailer" which was built in 1925 by Mrs. Harry K. Jansen and her husband Colonel Harry KJansen Sr.. The first post office was established in Satellite Beach on July 1, 1926 by Mr. A C Baker with the name "Kissimmee". The name change came about because at that time Kissimmee was just outside of Sanford and satellite beach would be closer to Sanford so it became known as satellite beach or simply "satellite". In 1934, when they moved the airport from Ormond beach Boulevard to its present location on 15th Street North it also changed its name to "Satellite Beach Airport." In 1941, during World War II, when America entered into war against Japan, many Japanese people living in nearby Daytona Beach were taken prisoner during World War II and marched through Sanford towards Satellite Beach where they were kept until their release in 1945. Many Japanese artifacts were found throughout town after the war which has made up some of the history behind what is now called 'Satellite Beach'. 'the early years of satellite beach were very difficult due to lack of transportation and communication,' said Mayor Sandy Weitzman who served from 1978-1982 '. . . When we started getting phone service there wasn't even a mailbox! There wasn't anything.' On December 5th 1958 Hurricane Ike hit Palm Bay causing extensive damage both inside and outside satellite beach; however little did anyone know at that time that this would be just one more event that would impact our community over the next few decades.' With no permanent structures or businesses remaining following Hurricane Ike many residents decided to rebuild what remained using salvaged materials from around town as well as donations from family members and friends who had lost homes or business during Hurricane Ike.' Today Satellite Beach continues to thriving thanks largely to tourism but also thanks to donations (both local & national) coming in all year round from individuals & businesses alike.-Mayor Sandy Weitzman

Satellite Beach was founded in 1922 by Captain William Halsey and his wife Mable Roper as a small seaside community on the shore of Jupiter Bay. The name came from a satellite (a motley collection of rocks) that passed over the bay during summertime. The first post office opened in 1922 and was called "Jupiter". In 1927, they changed it to "Satellite" after receiving word from an Atlanta real estate agent that there were several towns with similar names in Satellite Valley near Pensacola. In 1954, Captain Halsey donated land for a shopping mall which became known as the Satellite Mall. The town's largest employer has been Macy's since 1984 when it moved into its current building on State Road 9A across from Red Lobster restaurant
