Satellite Beach, Florida is a town located in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The population was 7,693 at the 2010 census. The area that now makes up Satellite Beach was first inhabited by the Timucua Nation and then by the Apalachee Indians. In 1835, Spanish settlers arrived in what is now Satellite Beach and named it San Sebastian de la Vega. The name change came about because of disputes between Spain and America over which land Should be given to Spain as part of the Treaty of Paris following the Mexican-American War (1846-48). In 1907, a group of local businessmen decided to start a munitions factory in Satellite Beach to help support World War I efforts. When the war ended, business slowed down and the company went out of business. However, it reopened in 1945 as United Cannery & Munitions Co., Inc., one of South Florida's largest manufacturers of munitions products. After years of decline and bankruptcy, United Cannery closed its doors for good in 1984. However, in 2007 a new company called MGC International bought United Cannery's assets from their former owner and reopened it as an ammunition store/manufacturing center called "United Ammunition." At this point in time there are still few traces left from when United Cannery was active here – primarily just remnants from when they built their plant on State Road 9 near present day Naval Station_South Bay: As you can see from these photos taken during 2007’s reopening ceremony - much has changed since back when UnitedCannery was thriving! With all due respect to MGC International for restoring this important chapter in our town’s history - nothing has ever been more visible than those obsolete bayside warehouses once occupied by UnitedCannery!

Satellite Beach is located on State Road 27A about 12 miles (19 km) east of the central business district of Jacksonville. It is part of the Jacksonville-Hollywood-Port Charlotte Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community began as a small cluster of homes and businesses along State Road 27A in1968 when residents decided to move from nearby Kissimmee after allegations that an area near Space Coast Missile Range had been contaminated with radiation. Satellite Beach grew rapidly and by 1984 it had over 100 homes and businesses. The town's first store opened in 1969, and the first school was built in 1970. In 1985, satellite beach moved to its current location on SR 27A after being displaced by growth around Interstate 95 south of town. In 2007, satellite beach saw its biggest increase in population when developers sold land adjacent to I-95 for $100 million making it one of the largest development projects ever undertaken in Monroe County. The area now includes more than 400 homes and businesses with plans for even more growth over the next few years as new construction continues apace all around I-95
