The history of the gun barrel in Sarasota, Florida can be traced back to 1892. That year, a group of men from Stonington, Connecticut began manufacturing barrels for shotguns. At first, the barrels were made of mahogany but soon became popular due to their durability and ease of maintenance. They were also known for their sweet taste and smooth texture. The company that would become Sturm Ruger Manufacturing was founded in 1892 by John Sturm and David Ruger. Prior to this time,gun barrels had been made out of wood or bamboo. In 1896, the company introduced a new type of barrel-known as a “bicorn” barrel- which featured an upside down V-shaped muzzle brake. This design allowed guns with short barrels to be fired more accurately than those with longer ones. In 1903, Ruger entered into partnership with Winchester Repeating Arms Company and began producing shotguns under the Winchester name. From then on, shotgun Barrels would continue to be produced by both companies until 1937 when it was discontinued altogether due to World War II military production restraints. During World War II, many factories were closed down due to rationing and there wasn’t enough demand for traditional firearms such as shotguns so gun Barrel production ceased entirely throughout the war years. After World War II came peace which allowed manufacturers back into business but Shotgun Barrel production only resumed in 1949 after being removed from regular production during the war years because too much money was spent on WW2 armament instead of projectiles/barrels! Gun Barrel Production recommenced again in Sarasota in 1953 however it would only last until 1962 when it completely stopped again because rounds were becoming scarce during that time period! He named it the "Henson Rifle." It was not until 1881 that cannons became popular in Sarasota, and so Captain Henson's rifle was replaced by a cannon. The first cannons used in Sarasota were called "Humphrey guns." Humphrey guns were made by Nicholas Humphreys of England. They had two barrels that could be fired at one time with either round or shot.
