By 1880 there were more than 100 residents living in blocks surrounding what are today downtown Sanford including Fine Arts District which included Fine Arts Building Blocks built around current day Volusia Theatre complex adjacent west side street we call Today Federal Way off New onset road south side lot next door future site tomorrow closest major league baseball park Miami Marlins stadium ), Military District No 6 also included parts lying inland but never developed ) On October 15 1890 when all federal lands were transferred ownership & management to state government Sanford had 793 citizens
