This system allowed officers to hit targets at distances up to 1 mile with accuracy! After many years of service with the SPD department, The Weaponsight System III fell victim to budgetary cuts in 1987 which led to its replacement by a new 3x9 aperture rifle target sight called “The Sanford Weaponsight System I”! This system features illuminated reticles with mil spec glass objectives that can be calibrated anywhere from +5 degrees F (-15 degrees C) through -10 degrees F (-25 degrees C) so officers can hit targets at any angle! With such high technology available today, it is no wonder that Sanford has been able to keep its Gun Sights equipment active for over 90 years!
