The production of binoculars continued until 1957 when the company closed its doors after 25 years of production. Approximately 350 employees were employed at Binocular Company during its lifespan.

Upland areas around the town have medium oak trees that are mostly mature; however, there are also some smaller stands of palm trees and live oaks near waterways and reservoirs. According to the United States Census Bureau, Sanford has a total population of 13,584 people living in 514 households as well as 3 non-profit organizations which together have a total population size of over 350 people
