The bipods were a type of foot-operated machine gun used by the United States military in World War II. They were designed by Major General John T. MacArthur and Lieutenant Colonel Harry C. Butcher, and first used in the Battle of Midway on September 2, 1942. The bipods were an improvement over the earlier Browning Hi-Power rifle tripod, which had been developed during World War I. The bipod allowed for better control of the weapon while Operating from a prone or kneeling position, making it more efficient at hitting targets at long range. Bipods are still in use by various armies today, with different variants specific to different tasks such as artillery spotting and air support operations.

Safety Harbor is a town located in Alachua County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,413 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Gainesville–Fort Walton Beach–Escambia Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit Safety Harbor were Spanish voyageurs who landed there on Christmas Day 1795. A wharf and landing place were developed on the bayou by early 18th century settlers. In 1814, Captain William Pryor established a trading post here with goods that he bought from Native Americans living in what is now Alabama and Mississippi. Pryor's Post marked the beginning of a period of growth for this community which would culminate in its incorporation as a town in 1872. In 1907, Safety Harbor was designated as one of four communities within the newly created Escambia County; it became an unincorporated community after countyhood was granted to Escambia County on November 3, 1907. In 1937, Hurricane Frances destroyed much of Safety Harbor including many homes and businesses; however, most people made it through without any damage or loss. Many residents returned home during ensuing weeks and months as cleanup began and various assistance programs were organized by local governments and churches. A new school building was completed in 1945-46 just south of downtown (now known as Business Park) after years of construction effort by citizens and government officials.. The old high school building had been used intermittently as office space for various agencies until that year when it also caught fire which caused extensive damage but no injuries.. In 1949-50 two new blocks were built east of downtown using private funds raised through sales taxes levied on businesses located east of US 1 near present day US 27/SR 68 junction). This block development included the erection of two commercial buildings: The First National Bank Building (now part Of Hooters International) facing US 1 across SR 68 from downtown while adjacent Biltmore Hotel faced east towards US 27/SR 68 junction). These buildings are still extant today: One structure has been replaced by a parking lot while the other has been moved several times since then but remain prominent reminders of downtown’s earliest days.. In 1957 another new block was erected northwest along SR 268 from SR 1 to business park making up what is now called North End Mall (). A major shopping center characterized by large anchors such as Macy’s,, Sears etc., anchored these stores. Southwestern corner store burned down in 1978 but never reopened due to poor economy;; arson claims have not been proven ever since

Safety Harbor, Florida is a town in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa–St Petersburg–Clearwater Combined Statistical Area. The town was founded by Commodore John C. Stonington and named for him after his safe harbor on Pensacola Bay in Cuba. The first post office opened in Safety Harbor on November 11, 1881. By 1902, Safety Harbor had a school and a store. In 1911, Safety Harbor amalgamated with neighbouring Pahokee to form the new town of Pahokee-Safety Harbor. In 1925 Safety Harbor annexed the village of Highland Beach to its west and then merged with nearby Ybor City to become Safety Harbor-Ybor City combined municipality which had an estimated population of 35,000 as of 1990 In 1965 safety harbor incorporated as a city under the name Hillsborough County Boroughs #1-4 with a population of 4600 residents In 1970safety harbor incorporated as a city under the name Hillsborough County Boroughs #5-8 with a population of 7250 residents in 1974 safety harbor annexed unincorporated community called Belleair into safety harbour
The Safety Harbor area of Florida was founded by Spanish colonists in the early 17th century. The area was named after the Spanish Town of San Salvador, which is located on the barrier island of Santa Rosa de Tenerife. The town was established in 1665 and became a port for goods arriving from Spain and its colonies in South America. In 1795, the Treaty of Paris ended the American Revolution and Spain ceded sovereignty over its Florida territory to Great Britain. In 1821, United States militia forces fought a bloody battle against Mexican forces at what is now known as Alvarado Key in this area. After that battle, United States General Andrew Jackson ordered all civilian residents remaining on Santa Rosa de Tenerife to leave or be killed. The treaty resulted in about 1,000 Americans dying during that conflict. After years of instability, violence and economic decline, San Salvador finally gained independence from Spain in 1912 and became an independent republic with its own government. In 1928, it merged with neighboring Cuba to form the Republic of Cuba. In 1959, Fidel Castro led a Marxist-Leninist revolution which overthrew Cuban government and replaced it with a communist dictatorship which continue until 1991 when Fidel died suddenly. As part of his funeral program, he transferred power to his brother Raul Castro who continued the Marxist-Leninist rule until 1996 when Raúl allowed freedom elections which produced a new Cuban president who formed an all-powerful Communist Party dictatorship until 2002 when he fell victim to a series of assassination attempts resulting in his ouster).
