Rockledge, Florida is a small town located inBrevard County, Florida. It was founded in 1868 by Capt. John A. Sabin and his family. The town has grown to become the largest center for fishing and hunting in Brevard County. In 1954, Rockledge became one of the first towns in Florida to be named after President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The town's rich history can be seen through its many buildings and monuments that date back to the early 1800s. One of the most significant landmarks here is the Sabin House which was built in 1868 as part of Captain John A.Sabin's plans for a new community near Fort Pierce on Lake Okeechobee. The house was later used as headquarters for the Brevard County Sheriff's Office from 1923-1988 and now houses the library branch of Brevard Community College. Another important building here is the Masonic Lodge which was erected in 1903 . It is one of only two Masons lodges left standing in Brevard County and it has been used as an event hall since 1978 when it was renamed The Palm Beach Post Pavilion Theatre .
