Rockledge was once a small town in Hillsborough County, Florida. It is now a suburb of Tampa. The first settlers in the area were farmers who began to arrive in the early 1800s. By the 1840s, Rockledge had become an agricultural community with several miles of roads and two churches. The population of Rockledge peaked at around 300 in 1860, but it declined rapidly after that point until it disappeared entirely by 1880. Only a handful of buildings from the original town remain today: a courthouse, jail, and post office. However, they are all worth visiting for their historical significance alone.
