The company produced a wide variety of eyeglasses, sunglasses, corrective lenses, contact lenses, and otherocular products until it was sold to Raytheon in 1987. In 1997 Raytheon merged with Seiko Instruments Corporation to create Seiko Instruments Company Limited (SIC). After several years as an independent company specializing in consumer goods such as watches and home appliances, Seiko Instruments Company Limited was renamed Raytheon Optics Incorporated on January 1st 2006. In 1919, JBSE added a second floor to the store and named it "TheSecker Arcade." This arcade served as the company's sales headquarters until 1984 when JBSE closed its doors permanently due to financial trouble.

The first white person to set foot in what is now Port St. Lucie was Captain John Fitch who landed there in 1810 on his way from Havana, Cuba to Tampa Bay. In 1902, a group of businessmen led by J.P Morgan established an airmail service from Fort Lauderdale Airport near Miami which made it possible for people from all over America to reach Port St.Lucie through mail flights that took off and landed at the airport's grassy runway just east of downtown (now part of Sunrise Boulevard). In 1949, when American Airlines Corporation founded its headquarters in Fort Lauderdale and began services out of CubanMed Airport outside of town (then known as Douglas Airport), they decided to move their main operations center from Miami Beach so they could be closer to their customers and employees within easy driving distance of both cities! American Airlines continued expanding into new markets until 2001 when they merged with United Airlines Corporation creating one giant airline! After more than 50 years as an independent company with its own airstrip & terminal building on Post Road in downtown Port St. Lucie, American Airlines parent company announced plans in 2009 for their main corporate headquarters complex - Will Rogers World Headquarters - which would include a new $350 million terminal building capable of handling up to 8 million passengers per year! This massive project finally began construction in late 2013 and should be completed by 2018! Today much of what makes Port St. Lucie such an attractive place for businesses is due to three boatyards – White Star Boatbuilders Inc., West Marine Ltd., & Government Boat Sales Ltd.– each having been instrumental in helping make this community one of the most popular tourist destinations along the Gulf Coast during hurricane season! These companies have built some truly iconic vessels such as Tom Cruise’s “Olympic” yacht Regal which served as the star attraction on several summer blockbuster movie sets; Aluma Yacht Group has built many high-end open water yachts such as Crystal clear Cutters; government agencies including Homeland Security have utilized port facilities for various law enforcement purposes; while also enjoying regular visitor arrivals by celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Brad Pitt; among others…..the list goes on and on! What started as just a small fishing village today employs more than 1,000 local residents plus subcontractors throughout Southwest Florida!! So why is it thatPortStLucie remains so vibrant? One word: tourism!!! Not only does this industry generate significant tax revenue for our city but it also provides jobs for locals who are dedicated to making sure all visitors enjoy everything that we offer…… whether it’s our delicious seafood dishes or world-renowned shows like Cirque du Soleil performances or even jet skiing…… everyone enjoys experiencing something different here every day!!!!
