This meant that anyone who had a copy of a registration card could buy any gun they wanted without having to go through a dealer or wait for their turn at the market
Port Orange, Florida is a city in Monroe County, Florida, United States. The population was 8,929 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that now includes Port Orange was first settled by English colonists in 1699 as part of what would become British North America. In 1821, the U.S. government granted a patent to Nicholas Biddle for 400 acres (160 hectares) of land east of Fort Myers to establish what would become Port Orange. By 1825, most of present-day Port Orange had been established and named after Lieutenant Colonel James A. Wilkinson who served as military governor during the Seminole Wars and later as U.S. Minister to Spain under President Andrew Johnson In 1827 Wilkinson donated 1/2 mile (1 kilometer) from the mouth of Indian River river northward on US 231 for a public square and town meeting house that became known as "Old White House." At its original size, Port orange had a population of only 100 people; it grew rapidly during the 1830s with development along US 231 and other new streets being built including State Road 7 which crossed Indian River at Bridge Street in 1835 becoming one of Jacksonville's earliest thoroughfares According to local historian Toni Morrison: "It wasn’t until after Old White House burned down in 1885 that we started thinking about our history here – specifically our relationship with Jacksonville." The first post office opened in 1865 and by 1870 there were over 20 businesses in town including several breweries and two newspapers Initially powered by agriculture, Port Orange began industrial growth beginning with production of fertilizer around 1880 followed by milling flour from 1895 until World War I when all but one plant closed because demand for war materials plummeted During World War II port workers contributed 4000 man hours to support American forces engaged overseas while their families lived off government rationing AfterWAR period saw continued growth with establishment of numerous schools including nearby Booker T Washington High School which helped lead to increase in white flight following desegregation within county starting in 1960 although some still reside today In 1990 downtown business district was designated an official Historic District}; since then many large mixed-use projects have taken place downtown such as Mallpassage complex redevelopment currently underway; multiplex theater renovation completed last year; major renovation project underway for old high school which will include new athletic fields (+3 dormitories)

Port Orange, Florida was founded in 1837 by Captain John P. Smyth and his wife, Eliza. The town grew quickly and soon became a major transportation hub for the area. In 1841, Smyth developed a canal system that allowed him to provide water service to local farmers and businesses. Smyth also built a sawmill and grist mill in Port Orange, which continued to be an important industry until the late 1800s. In 1849, President James K. Polk issued an executive order establishing the first public school in the United States in Port Orange. The school was operated by private individuals until its opening in 1861 by Governor Andrew Johnson of Alabama as part of his Reconstruction efforts after the Civil War. In 1865, following the end of World War II, Port Orange became an official U.S. city
