From 1836 to 1841 it was owned by Andrew Jackson’s brother-in-law John Cavanaugh; from1842 to 1865 by James Kanneder; from 1866 to 1888 by General Hardee; and finally from 1889 until 1898 by Jeptha Landon Goodspeed Jr., son of Jeptha Landon Goodspeed Sr., who had purchased it from General Hardee before he became governor of Florida In 1905, Plantation became part of Duval County when that county was created out of part of circuit court shares taken up by Stonington and other towns eastward along Gulf Drive between Palm Beach County and Miami County . On April 14th 1916 Confederate Major General Prentice Marshall's brigade relieved Union troops at Belle Fourche Station after five days' hard fighting . On October 3rd 1916 United States forces under General John J Pershing captured Tampa Bay Bridgehead just south of Belle Fourche while retreating after their successful campaign against Veracruz headquartered at nearby Marianna Pointe Church

Plantation changed hands many times during its history but always remained an important part of Seminole culture and society. The area around Plantation continued to be used for hunting, fishing, gathering shellfish, and growing crops until well into the 20th century.

The first white person to live in the area was John Fenton, who purchased land from the Seminole people in 1827. The area became a part of Seminole County, Florida, and a plantation system developed. White people ran the plantations while Native American and African Americans worked on the farms.
