Bullets in Plantation, Florida date back to the Revolutionary War. In 1778, British Major John Hickey sent a detachment of riflemen to Plantation in order to quell an uprising by local slaves. The men were met with resistance and five of them were killed. Hickey responded with violence, killing three of the rebels and wounding nine others.
