They were all based in Tampa until they moved to their current stadiums in 2007 and 2013 respectively. Prior to that, they were located in St Petersburg or Clearwater. In 1961, Tasker Realty Company began developing what would become known as "City Park". This large tract of land on Veterans Boulevard near Park Avenue served as both an open-air playground for children and a training ground for local police officers during World War II; it also hosted a movie theater and other commercial properties until 1965 when it was razed to make way for new development including a shopping mall which anchoredToday'sTarget store across from USF stadium/the University of South Florida campus

In 1865, Plant City became a municipio (city) under Spanish rule. In 1892, Plant City lost its status as a municipio and became an unincorporated community. The population of Plant City peaked in the early 1920s at over 10,000 residents but has since declined significantly.
