Pinellas Park is a city located in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. The population was 71,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa–St Petersburg–Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is one of two cities in Florida with a racial diversity (the other being Miami) that also has a racially diverse population as well as both having large Latino and African American populations. In 2000, Forbes magazine placed Pinellas Park 13th out of 100 largest U.S. metropolitan areas in its "Mapping America" issue which measured economic size by housing stock and job growth rate over the past decade The first Europeans to visit this area were Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto on November 14, 1534 and his men exploring what would become Tampa Bay when they landed on Longboat Key near present day Clearwater Beach during their exploration for new land to settle in North America. On December 12, 1536 Pedro Menéndez de Avilés set off from Cuba with 300 conquistadores under his command to explore what became St Petersburg Bayou following him ashore on December 16th after sailing up the bayou for days without finding any landfall or sources of water they could exploit. They named it Santa Rosa de los Robles because they saw someros (a type of palm) growing near an old sugar cane plantation called San Roque de las Carreras just north of Apalachicola Heights Cemetery today's Old Star Plaza Shopping Center off US-1B just east of State Road 813/SR-813 about 10 miles southeast of downtown Saint Petersburg The area now known as Pinellas Park was originally all within Hillsborough County including Stonington Landing on Tampa's west side then Allendale until 1868 when Hillsborough County was created from parts of Duval and Polk counties along with Stonington Landing becoming part of Pinellas Park while Allendale went back into Hillsborough County control In 1905, most notably developer David Lummis bought 5 acres (2 ha) south of present day Stadium Drive between Stadium Boulevard and Boynton Boulevard where he erected what is now Lummis Place Developments which included a golf course, swimming pool and tennis courts before becoming one of Southeast Florida's leading development firms active in real estate management through acquisition, development and marketing As early as 1907 developers had started building homes here including Rufus Wainwright who built several hundred houses around what are now University Avenue SE & US-1E about 1 mile northeast cornering Stadium Boulevard NE & US-1A just east across I-4 from our present day shopping center Pioneer Place which opened in 1917 paralleling Stadium Drive NE currently home to Publix Super Markets

Pinellas Park is a small town in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa–St. Petersburg–Clearwater metropolitan area. The townsite was laid out by Captain John Worth in 1837 and named for General Andrew Johnson's plantation near Clearwater on which Johnson had spent time during his naval service in the late 18th century. The town was platted in 1845 after a Conference of Commissioners on Indian Affairs voted to establish an agricultural community in central Pinellas County as a way to reduce competition from St. Petersburg's rapidly growing slave trade and its newly developed cotton plantations. In 1865, Confederate general Pinchback occupied Broward Heights and burned it to the ground; this event helped spur development of Pinellas Park as a rural residential community with whiteaquean (Asian) residents until World War II when Japanese Americans were concentrated there because of their wartime military connections. Today, pinellaspark features rolling farmland with creeks running through it that provide natural watering areas for many varieties of flowers and trees; two golf courses are located within its boundaries: one operated by Pinellas Park Golf Course Management Company Inc., founded in 1934, and another now managed by PGA TOUR member Tiger Woods; several restaurants, including Olive Garden and Five Guys Burgers & Frieshares, are scattered throughout the community; as well as several businesses that offer recreational services such as tennis courts, swimming pools, playgrounds and hiking trails. There is also a smaller park called Panther Cove located adjacent to downtown which includes bicycle paths, playing fields and a beachfront concession stand
