Pinellas Park was first settled in 1853 by Nicholas Pinellas and wife Anna. They named their land after the pine trees near their home. The community grew rapidly due to its location, beauty, and good soil. By 1870, there were over 125 people living in Pinellas Park. The post office was established in 1875, and the first store opened in 1879. In 1907, the name of the community was changed to Seminole Heights because of racial segregation in Florida at that time. In 1960, Pinellas Park became an incorporated municipality with a population of Over 100 thousand people.
