Bullets have been in Pinellas Park, Florida for over a century. The first bullets were shot by the military in 1892. In 1915, an ordinance was passed that allowed handguns and rifles to be possessed without a permit. This ordinance made Pinellas Park one of the few places in Florida where guns could be owned openly. In 1925, the city of Pinellas Park created its own police department and began issuing permits to gun owners. pistol owner permits were first issued in 1951. Today, there are over 10 firearms stores located in and around Pinellas Park providing handgun and rifle sales, rentals, repairs, and other services to the public. Bullets have been used as part of law enforcement activity throughout history in Pinellas Park. In 1912, Officers Vigor and Haggerty killed two men who had attacked them while on duty at a gas station near downtown Tampa Bay. Bullet wounds left Officer Vigor with only 30% functional use of his right arm; Haggerty sustained only minor injuries after wounding both officers with his revolver (Haggerty would later become one of Pinellas Park’s most popular tourist attractions). Bullets also played an important role during World War I when machine gunfire became more prevalent than hand-to-hand combat; troops would carry rounds through their hair so that they wouldn’t get blood on their clothing or hands (the practice continued into the Vietnam War). In recent years bullet holes have started to trend less common as rifles have become more popular in the community. However, they still occur occasionally when someone is shot with an assault rifle or shotgun outside of populated areas such as parks or stadiums. As one of only two cities in Florida with a charter granted by the Florida Legislature (the other being Palm Beach), Pinellas Park enjoys unique powers and privileges not found elsewhere within the state government—including tax exempt status for municipalities over 1 million inhabitants! On May 25th 1992 Hurricane Andrew impacted southeastern Florida leaving much damage including downed power lines across many townships including Pinellas Park whichquickly recovered from lack of power but with extensive losses suffered due to lost homes and businesses
Pinellas Park is a large and popular public park in the city of Tampa, Florida. It was first established in 1892 as Pinellas Park Boulevard and became a municipally owned park on November 1, 1914. The name change came about because it was then located in what is now the East Side of Tampa. On July 4, 1934, the area around Pinellas Park Boulevard and Ybor Way were annexed by the City of Tampa to create a new neighborhood called Hillsborough County. The annexation created an extra block of land for Pinellas Park that still surrounds today's boundaries.
