Pinecrest, Florida is a city in Broward County, Florida. The population was 381 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami-Dade Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city has a humid subtropical climate (Cfa) with mild winters and hot summers with average monthly temperatures of 67 degrees F (20 degrees C). In 1860, Captain Benjamin Goldthwait built a cabin on what is now Goldthwait Boulevard in Pinecrest. A post office called Pinecrest was established in 1865, and remained in operation until 1887. In 1892, the name of the town changed to Pompano Beach after J.M. Pompano donated land for a beach resort on his estate near Boca Raton. The first shopping center opened in Pompano Beach in 1966 when it was known as Sunnyside Shopping Center east of Sunrise Highway/SR732 south of US 301/State Road 705 North/Pinecrest Boulevard West which included four stores: Woolworth's, American Eagle Outfitters, Sears Roebuck & Co., JCPenney & Co.. That same year saw the opening of Jardin Park which was centered around City Hall Plaza across from Sunrise Highway/SR732 north of US 301/State Road 705 South/Pinecrest Boulevard West/. By 1970 there were twelve stores - six within walking distance of each other - inside City Hall Plaza including Kmart Supercenter next door; Safeway located behind City Hall; Jewelers cases adjoining Kmart Supercenter; two Dunkin' Donuts locations open late night; one movie theater - Regal Cinema annex Cinemark - multiplexed showing different formats including 16mm print limitless popcorn refills available while tickets are still valid; Oriental Trading Company store built adjacent to Regal Cinema Annex Cinemark that became known as "The Chinese Market". In 1971 when I-95 through Broward County was completed and originally designated as State Road 468 Spur linking Fort Lauderdale with Palm Beach County Western Tollway exit 54B off Interstate 95 northbound under US 1 just south of where SR468 intersects today's Business Aviation Drive section renamed I-95 South Spur by then SB 458 became I-395 spur designation concurrent with I-95 all the way thru Broward County dropping its southern terminus at SR468 about 2 miles north past Deerfield Beach into Brevard County serving as an alternate route for traffic thru Hollywood Casino Resort bypassing nearby Hialeah Gardens International Airport also served by CRUISE LINE bus service from Port Everglades Intl Airport Shuttle Terminal that terminated just outside Hollywood Casino Resort via Intersection Of SR4 68 And Hollywood Dr going thru downtown Kissimmee coming out onto Gator Way leading directly to Hialeah Gardens International Airport

Pinecrest is a small town in Brevard County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,098 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Orlando metropolitan area. The first Pinecrest settlement was founded in 1892 by J.B. Hennessey and his family as a result of their land purchase from the Seminole Tribe of Florida. The town began as a farming community with just two families living on the original site near what is now Admiral's Landing Boulevard and Flagler Drive. In 1916, Pinecrest became one of four towns annexed to Orlando by the City of Orlando; it retains its separate government and school district today. In 1990, Pinecrest voters approved an amendment to their municipal charter which created Pinecrest Park District to manage and operate various park features within the town limits including: An elementary school, community center, library, softball field/parking lot for public use (now known as "Grunting Grove"), tennis courts (now known as "Clemente Tennis Courts"), children's play area called "Pine Crest Playground", youth soccer fields located throughouttown), and an artificial pond measuring (but not limited to) 6 acres that includes an open-air swimming pool with diving boards and bottomless water feature The following year saw another annexation when Lakeland annexed much of northeastern Brevard County including Pinecrest Township along with nearby unincorporated communities of New Smyrna Beach and Titusville; these additions increased the population size of Orange County by over 20%. When Orange County was split into five counties in 2003-2004 -Brevard County being reduced to two -Pinecrest remained unchanged within Brevard County but lost its status as a township because it falls outside OfOrlando proper boundaries . The only change made to pine crest since then has been that new street names have been added like Maple Street & Hickory Lane while older streets have kept their current numbers .
