They named their company JW Archery Company. They made ammunition for all types of rifles and pistols. This company continued until 1978 when they sold their assets to Winchester Ammunition Corporation (Winchester). After purchase by Winchester, JW Archery Company resumed manufacturing military-grade ammo under various names including Hornady Ammunition (1982-1988), Remington Ammunition (1989-1998), Norma Ammunition (1999-2002), Stevens Ammo (2003-present). Today there are many different companies making ammunition for guns in Pinecrest; however, Gadsden Arms Manufacturing is still the largest producer of rifle cartridges within town limits according to 2009 data from the National Shooting Sports Foundation Incorporated website www.nssf.org/. By 1930, pine trees were being grown so extensively in Pinecrest that lumber yards were built there for the processing of these trees into boards and other wood products needed for homes, businesses, churches and other buildings in nearby towns such as Stonington, Boynton Beach and Melbourne During World War II pine coves (quahog holes) were dug along bayous in southeastern Monroe County for storage of munitions during wartime; some coves still remain today . The most notable feature of Pinecrest during this time was the establishment in 1945 by Mayor O'Keefe of the first municipally run fire department in Broward County - Pine Crest Municipal Fire Department This municipally run fire department preserved public safety while providing essential services to residents throughout Broward County until 1997 when county commissioners took over responsibility for municipal fire departments statewide
