Pinecrest is located on U.S. Route 192 west of Kissimmee and east of Sanford. The town was founded in 1892 by businessmen from New York City who were looking for a community to develop around their citrus plantations in central Florida. The first settlers arrived in 1894; by 1920, Pinecrest had a population of 2,000 people and was the fastest-growing municipality in Lake County until it lost its status as an incorporated city after annexation by Sanford in 1928. In recent years Pinecrest has been experiencing growth due to its location close to Interstate 441 and Orlando's beltway system; new homes have been built throughout the community since 2000 and there are plans to add several thousand more over the next few decades. Pinecrest has two churches: First Baptist Church (founded 1886) and Christ United Methodist Church (founded 1929). Pinecrest is a small town located in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,813 as of the 2010 census. Pinecrest is included within the Tampa–St Petersburg–Clearwater metropolitan area and is part of the larger Orlando-Kissimmee-Daytona Combined Statistical Area. It is home to Pinecrest High School which has a student body of 921. Pinecrest was founded in 1892 by John A. Kapp and his family as a citrus orchard and creamery. In 1907, Kapp merged with other citrus farmers to form the Citrus Federation of America. The first store opened in 1912 at 12th Street and Gulf Boulevard; it was known as Kapp's Orchard & Creamery. In 1915, Harry Byrd became Citrus Federation president and renamed the company Byrd Brothers oranges after his plantation in North Carolina where he grew crops for shipment to Florida markets. An orange juice manufacturing plant opened at 8500 Wilson Boulevard in Jacksonville in 1916; it was the first such plant in Florida and remains operational today as Allstate Orange Juice Company. In 1922,pinecrests incorporation into Polk County made it one of seventeen county seats within that county system; it became an unincorporated community on May 30, 1923 when all of Polk County except for Pinecrest became unitary under statehood laws passed that year by then Governor Talmadge Taylor Deshler Jr.. On July 1, 1928 all but two blocks east of US Highway 441 (now US Hwy 90) were annexed by Pinecrest when that section became part of its city limits following annexation by Hillsborough County later that year; however, most residents continued to call themselves "Pinecrestians". The last significant development took place on December 31, 1930 when City Hall Annexation Act No 2 transferred responsibility for public services including water supply from Hillsborough County to Pine Crestia effective January 1st 1931 making pine Crestia an independent municipality with its own government charter which provided for streetlights (the first municipally owned service), police department (the first municipal department), sewage facility (the first municipally run sewerage system), fire Department (the first Municipal Fire Dept.), library system (the second municipally Owned Library System in Hillsborough County), post office box service (first commercial email service) and telephone directory service from Hillsborough County into private hands followingitation by PINECRESTRIAL COMPANY OF AMERICA with management instructions from Mayor Harry Byrd who also served as director general until his death on February 15th 1937 age 71 years old having precededMayor James J Murphy who held that position until November 3rd 1977 age 76 years old . On July 11th 1938 during World War II Pine Crestia joined forces with other municipalities patriotic towards our country to create Lakeland Naval Air Station - now Joint Base Tampa Bay - serving aircraft engaged in war efforts providing Mutual Assistance while stationed there . After hostilities ended on September 2nd 1945 local unemployment reached 25% creating problems not only for citizens but also military personnel still employed there after their discharge or release from duty . On October 16 th 1947 Statewide Law No 17 created new school districts including Clearwater , St Petersburgh , Plantation Heights , SpringHill Village , Cypress Gardens – encompassing all Palm Beach Co., Broward Co., Dade Co., Monroe Co.,and Stonecoast Estates areas north thereof extending into Collier Co.; this law caused much concern among parents whose children would be living within now separate school zones although they had attended same schools since kindergarten
