Pinecrest is a town in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,635 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa–St Petersburg–Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. Pinecrest was platted in 1892 by J.A.Crowell and C.Bennett and named for pine trees found near the town site. The first post office was established in 1893 and was called Cuttrellville; it closed in 1903. The present name of Pinecrest is derived from a short distance to the southeast, where a sawmill had been built by John Denny & Sons in 1892 as part of his plantation holdings thereabouts; this mill village became known as "Dennyville" after J.Denny, its original owner and operator. On March 9, 1912, Pinecrest was selected as the site of an experimental airmail service between Tampa Bay and Jacksonville using Wright Brothers airplanes! This service operated until 1943 when it reverted back to forced-draft mail flights using Army bombers over open water! In 1949 Pinecrest became home to one of three primary schools serving Hillsborough County – Lakewood Elementary School (later renamed Clearwater Middle School). On January 1st 1965 school buses were added to serve students from neighboring communities with stops at Clearwater High School and Westshore Junior/Senior HS which are now part of Clearwater Senior HS before continuing on to Pinecrest Intermediate School which opened on October 1st 1966 under new leadership including Drs James Meeks & Alvin Purdy who would become Headmasters at both schools later that year! Today Pinecrest has two elementary schools (Lakewood & Clearwater) one middle school (Lakewood), four high Schools (Hillsborough Central | Hillsborough East | PinellasWest | Gulf Beach) six charter schools comprising grades pre-K-12th inclusive some having multiple campuses - Academy for Pre-Schoolers | AppleTree Preschool | Archbold Early Childhood Center| Baldwin Park Prep Academy| Belleair Learning Village| Brandon Prep Academy| Broward Preparatory Charter School[1] The community enjoys many recreational opportunities such as swimming, fishing, boating and golfing among others but also provides groceries shopping services through Kroger supermarkets located throughout the community along with other local businesses such as Meijer Food Marts The current Mayor is Bob D’Amico since November 2017

Pinecrest is a town located in Duval County, Florida. The population was 2,848 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. The first settler in Pinecrest was John Pritchard who arrived in 1821. He named his land "Pinecrest." In 1834, James Ahern and family purchased 640 acres (253 hectares) of what is now Pinecrest from David Brewster. They built a small log cabin that still stands today on Hwy 22 just east of US-1/SR-441. In 1886, Jno Meeks bought an additional 6 acres (2 hectares). This property became known as Maple Grove. From this location he could see both Uptown and downtown Jacksonville from his home and grew to become one of the largest landowners in Duval County. On October 4th, 1907, Pinecrest was incorporated as a village by ordinance number 5353 passed by the Duval County Board of Commissioners. On September 15th, 1910 Governor Franklin D Roosevelt announced the creation of Palm Beach County which included Pinecrest Village within its boundaries; however no action was taken to incorporation or change the name to Pinecrest until 1912 when it was changed back again toDuval for political reasons unrelated to thevillage's growth - probably related to then Mayor Harry Reid's close association with President Woodrow Wilson and Eleanor Roosevelt]
