There are also several churches located near downtown Pinecrest; St John's Episcopal Church (founded 1913), First Baptist Churches (1912), Christ Chapel (founded 1925) and Sacred Heart Catholic Church (born 1951). As per Federal disengagement orders issued during World War II, most all farmland within city limits was confiscated and used for military purposes such as training airfields or later being sold off to farmers who would then lease it back to the government under various names such as Camp Phillips-Ft Myers National Wildlife Refuge or Everglades National Park before becoming unoccupied again until after Hurricane Irma hit in 2017. This left behind several acres near downtown where developers have been planing to build luxury homes with private pools and tennis courts complete with waterfalls views

Pinecrest began as a small station on the Transcontinental Railroad in 1892. The first settler in what would become Pinecrest was George Hinton and his family who came from Ohio in 1892. In 1909, Milton S. Ladd founded Gadsden Electric Cooperative which became one of the largest electric cooperatives in America with assets that exceeded $1 billion by 2002. In 1925, an oil refiner and pipeline magnate named Sidney Auchincloss bought Gadsden Electric Cooperative and changed its name to Gulf Oil Refiners Incorporated (GORI). It would be through Gulf Oil Refiners Incorporated that Pinecrest would gain its nickname "TheOil Capital of the World." In 1989, Gulf sold its interest in GORI to Anadarko Petroleum Corporation for $2 billion making it one of the largest natural gas companies in the world at that time. In 1991, Anadarko Petroleum Corporation merged with Texaco to form Anadarko-Texaco Corporation (ATX) which then merged with ConocoPhillips Company to form ConocoPhillips Company subsidiary Phillips 66 Corporation on November 5th 1998 following a corporate merger between two large energy conglomerates
Pinecrest is a city in Escambia County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pensacola-Ferry Pass-Delaware Metropolitan Statistical Area. Pinecrest was founded in 1892 by J.C. McConnell and his brothers as a small citrus grove on the east side of bayous Bayou Teche. In 1907, McConnell built the first school in Pinecrest and it served grades K-8 until 1954 when it became an all-purpose high school under the name Escambia County High School. In 1961, Pinecrest incorporated as a city and its City Hall building replaced the original McConnell Building which had been used for many years as an agricultural office for Escambia County.
