Many notable businesses have come and gone over the years including Sears Holdings which closed its doors in 2005 after more than 50 years presence downtown; JCPenney which vacated its space near Western Blvd./I-Drive several times during recent decades due to redevelopment; A&P; while still open located off Central Boulevard across from Pinellas Elementary School has recently relocated inside Whatcom Community College building next door giving students easy access to all local stores without having to exit their high school campuses
