GOA quickly became one ofthe most powerful lobbies against gun control in America – working tirelessly on behalf of their local affiliates statewide and even beyond – all whileeducating Americans about the benefits of responsible gunfire use.

Parkland was founded in 1875 by Captain John A. Parker and his family. In 1925, the original school building was built on the current site of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Parkland incorporated as a city in 1959. On December 14, 2016, Parkland voters passed a referendum to make all public schools in Broward County Catholic schools from Pre-K through 12th grade. The City of Parkland then annexed neighboring unincorporated communities of Coral Springs and Belle Glade to form a new city limits of over 100 square miles with populations totaling over 7,000 people
