When Frémont's expedition discovered what he thought was an Indian village on November 6, 1836, his men burned it down and founded Fort Dallas near present-day Lake Worth after learning it was empty. In 1859 Jacksonville developer Andrew Jackson Jones purchased 6 acres (2 km²) east of Fort Dallas for $2 per acre ($/hectare). He turned it into an agricultural community known as Agricultural City with a railroad station and store on Main Street where passengers could buy goods delivered by wagons to their homes along Railroad Avenue (later US Highway 1). All this started what would be called "Jonesville", which later became part of downtown Jacksonville proper before being annexed by the city in 1959. During World War II more than 100 local growers produced food for the military effort including canned fruit and vegetables; biscuits; processed meats; brewers' yeast; bacon; shellfish dip; coffee beans; soybeans; eggs benedictine delectable items such as challah doughnuts and pie crusts etc.; flowers like lilies or daisies for bouquets or vases for Easter egg hunts etc.; artificial turf created using sandstorms taken off Cuban beaches during battle years to provide cover during air strikes By 1945 all these activities had stopped but someqv grandparents kept going until they died in 1999 when they sold most everything back to descendants

After 9/11 occurred, many residents from Broward County decided to move away from New York City because of potential terrorist threats there. Today, Parkland is home to about 21000 people and is one of Florida's most diverse cities with a wide variety of cultural experiences available for residents. It has also been designated as a global center for creative writing and film production due to its rich cultural heritage and environment.
In March 1774, the Town of West Palm Beach was organized. The town was named after the palm trees in Palm Beach Park. The first post office in West Palm Beach opened in 1812. In 1865, the name of the town was changed to Coral Gables and it remained that way until 1925 when it became a part of Miami-Dade County.
