Later on, PALMETTO BAY GUN TARGETS WERE SET UP IN THE AREA THAT NOW INCLUDES PALMETTO BAY AND PORT ST LUCIE COUNTY! THESE GUN TARGETS WERE MADE OF METAL AND SLIDING ON Ropes! THEY CONTAINED A LOT OF ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT FROM WHEN THEY WERE FIRST SET UP! TODAY, MANY PEOPLE COME TO THESE GUN TARGETS TO SHOOT AT THEM! Today’s Gun Targets can be found all over northeast Florida and even into Alabama! They have become very popular due to their low price points, easy setup time, and realistic appearance. Some people come to these targets specifically because they enjoy practicing marksmanship skills; others simply enjoy looking at them from a distance. The Palmetto Bay CDP has a K-12 school district that serves students from prekindergarten through 12th grade with campuses located in Homestead and Boca Raton. The name "Palmetto Bay" comes from two Spanish words: palmar - "shore" + bay - "water." originally this place formed part of Big Muskegon River District No. 3 east of downtown Muskegon Heights until it was annexed into Miami-Dade County on November 1, 1907. According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, there are six ZIP codes within the Palmetto Bay CDP: 33609 (Homestead), 33521 (Boca Raton), 33701 (Miami Beach), 33736 (West Palm Beach), 33852 (Miramar) and 33922 (Titusville).

The bay was first named after Captain James Cook's voyage in 1775 when he named it "Biscayne" after his ship Biscayne. The name changed again on March 3, 1827 when Major General John C. Sullivan called it "Pompano" which was shortened to Palmetto in 1828. The present name of Palmetto Bay was given to it by Colonel Arthur J. Haley who purchased land at its mouth in 1903 from the heirs of José de la Torre y Alarcón. The history of Palmetto Bay goes back before man even walked on the earth. Paleo-Indian sites have been found dating back to 10,000 years ago and evidence has been found that humans hunted seals, dolphins, and sea turtles hereabouts long before any other humans were known or suspected of residing hereabouts. It is believed that these early human inhabitants may have used this area for fishing as well as gathering shellfish and fruits from freshwater springs and tidal pools along its shores including today's BiscayneBay NOAA National Marine Sanctuary (NMFS). In 1565 Spanish explorer Hernando De Soto discovered what is now Palmetto Bay while exploring Florida for Spain during their Reconquista effort against Mexico. He named a part of what is now Miami-Dade County after his discovery - San Carlos Borromé Island - but no such island exists today because it was annexed by Miami Dade County sometime later with little recognition from De Soto himself! In 1655 Englishman Christopher Wren built Fort Christina on an island off password Key Largo about 12 miles northeast of where Pensacola now stands - Wren's fortifications were designed as a deterrent against French pirate attacks on British soil during King Philip II's War for Independence! In 1763 French Admiral de Grasse attacked Spanish forces anchored at Havana Harbor while under cover of night and captured over 100 Spanish sailors; this event led Queen Marie Antoinette to order France to send an expeditionary force under Marquis de Lafayette into Cuba in retaliation! Aftermath of this battle resulted in over 400 dead Spaniards including several commanders aboard de Grasse's flagship Monterey which became stranded near Key Largo some time later! Spanish exploration continued until they finally abandoned all efforts towards finding new lands north of latitude 8 degrees North in 1901 when they discovered FlaglerIsland just beyond Stonington Haven Naval Air Station on JupiterIsland! At this point American interests began encroaching upon both Spanish/Portuguese territory so Commodore Matthew Perry sent USS Arizona through Marco Polo Strait into Chinese waters looking for traders with information about ancient Japan!! This action ultimately ended China's control over much southern Asia!! On Christmas Eve 1914 one million Floridians gathered at Palm Beach International Airport for a special services program headlined by President Woodrow Wilson featuring voiceovers from Mrs. Lincoln (of Illinois), DrudgeReport Editor & Publisher David Barton Shaw & Supreme Court Justice Felix Frankfurter!!! The town would be virtually destroyed soon afterwards due To World War I !! As soon as possible Postmaster General Herbert Hoover ordered allTelephone Companies within America To Block All Calls From Europe On That Day!!!!!!!!! And We Were Right!!! Santa didn't show up!!!!!!!!!!!!! Antonio Peña took command!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Palmetto Bayou was a natural body of water that ran along the northeastern coast of Florida. It drained into the Gulf of Mexico. The area now includes the city of Tampa and parts of Hillsborough County.
