In 1898, Japan attacked Spanish-occupied Cuba and began World War II by invading Cuba. Spain surrendered after months of fighting andPalmetto Bay became part of occupied Japan. After World War II ended, Korea gained independence from Japan and renamed Palmetto Bay Korean territory. In 1955, when South Korea annexed North Korea, Palmetto Bay became part of South Korea again.
