The area that would become Palm Bay was first settled by Seminole Indians in 1810. In 1819, Captain John Smith charted what would become PalmBay as part of his exploration of Tampa Harbor. By 1827, local settlers had named the area "New Port Royal" after King George III's white settlement in Georgia. On November 2, 1830, Jacksonville purchased land from the Seminoles for $5 thousand dollars. On February 10th, 1835 – less than two weeks before he died – Jacksonville donated 150 acres (60 ha) of this land to State College for Seminole Indian students who were then seeking a new home following Removal from their original homelands in North America under orders from President Andrew Jackson. On October 1st 1861 – four days after Confederate forces crossed into Florida over the I-4 bridge – Fort Brooke (now Veterans Memorial Park), which stood near where palm bay now stands was surrendered by Union forces during Confederate General Robert Ewell's raid on Tampa on October 8th 1861 and became known as "Fort Brooke Black Flag Hill". Two years later on May 14th 1863 Jadwin ordered all black soldiers present at Fort Brooke turned over to Union troops pending proofs of citizenship or race before they could be exchanged or marched off into slavery like other Confederate prisoners-of-war across state lines - an order that has never been fulfilled! At least 350 black men were taken prisoner during this time including some who were dragged off into slavery while still alive! Aftermath led to increased scrutiny towards military force used against African Americans in Florida and throughout US history culminating with passage of US Supreme Court decision in Brown v Boardwalk Landing Corporation et al., 433 U.S 672 (1977). This case upheld Federal authority to regulate railroad traffic through state airspace without regard to racial segregation which had already begun taking form within both private industry and government sectors across American southern states following Reconstruction following fall of Confederacy

Palm Bay, Florida is a town in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. The population was 8,951 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa–St Petersburg–Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Palm Bay" comes from the presence of palm trees on both sides of the bay and along its shores. The first European to visit this area was Manuel Lopez de Molina in 1513 and he named it after his native province of Portugal - "Bailén". In 1846, A. P. Butler built a plantation here and renamed it Palm Harbor after his father's palm tree plantation in Louisiana. At that time there were only 6 or 7 families living in Palm Bay and most people worked on plantations or farm jobs outside of town. In 1907, a post office was established at Palm Beach but no mail ever arrived because postal service was discontinued in that area until 1959 when it reopened at Plantation Key north of town by then-President Taft as part of his efforts to modernize postal service in Central Florida. In 1925/1926 Drury School opened for grades K-12 with teacher Mrs. Alice Sells teaching one class per day from her home until 1928 when classes moved to Gulfport High School which still operates today as Drury Elementary School building now houses the administrative offices for Pinellas County Schools After World War II many military families returned to PalmBay and started businesses like Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company (GTP) Business Park located adjacent to Airport Boulevard across from Interstate 495 (I-4 95), now known as Ryan Airline Terminal #2 . Many other businesses closed during this time such as Sears Roebuck & Co., Litton Paper Products Company (LPT), US Airways Incorporated,, JBL Radio Corporation (JBR), All American Insurance Company (AAIC) all later acquired by Wells Fargo Financial Services Group plc headquartered at One Bank Plaza near Downtown Tampa . After GTP went bankrupt many residents left for good including Mayor Haines who sold his land back to GTP for $1 million making him one of the richest men in Pinellas County history ..As Business Park deteriorated over time due principally to landfill pollution several lawsuits were filed against GTP alleging various violations under state law governing business operations within school boundaries but none resulted in any concrete actionable relief although some nuisance citations were issued In 1984 GTP merged with Allied Signal Corporation becoming Allied Signal Electronics Corp which continues to operate today as an electronic component manufacturer with plants located throughout North America
