Sniper rifles continue to be used today both in conflicts and during peace time as their Accuracy Incorporated Design (AID) allows them to deliver engagements at long ranges without fear of missfires or inaccurate fire control systems

Palatka, Florida was founded on May 15, 1835 by Captain James Palatka, a whaling captain from the island of Saint Barthelemy. The island was part of Spanish Florida. Captain Palatka and his crew built a fort on the north bank of the St. Johns River in what is now Fort Myers Beach. On November 2, 1835, Captain Palatkah and his men sailed into Tampa Bay to trade goods with the Seminole Indians. They became friendly with them and traded guns, horses, and slaves. Captain Palatka's next venture was exploring nearby Hillsborough County in 1837-38 when he discovered an area that would become known as Tampa Bay. He named this new land "Palatka" after his home island of Saint Barthelemy. In 1840, Captain Palatka married Nellie Thomas in Tampa Bay; together they had two children: Samuel (1841-1907) and John (1843-1921). From this marriage proceeds were generated for both Captain Palatkah's son James (bruised during World War II) and grandson Donnie James Jr., who also became a US Navy admiral in 1976. In 1845-46Captain Palatkah explored Pensacola Bayou then moved upriver to what is now Jacksonville Landing where he met Colonel Andrew Jackson while on board HMS Beagle under Captains Hutton and Browning on their explore around Australia voyage in 1830/31 weathering some storms along the way including one that struck Beagle so hard it broke her masts! When first sighted these huge banks running out into Gulf of Mexico they were thought to be shoals but upon further inspection found to be wide open waterway which led them down toFlorida Keys where they anchored off Key West! After landing there Captains Hutton & Browning went ashore establish Trading Post at Santa Fe de la Vega before continuing their journey back up Red Sea coast through Bahia BlancaBayumas today day old Ruins just offshore from modern day Ybor City
In 1867, Palatka was founded by Capt. John P. Ketchum as a small town on the east coast of Florida. It quickly became a center for maritime trade and culture, and its traders developed what is now known as the "Ketchum Tradition." The town prospered thanks to its location on the mouth of the St. Johns River, its access to seafood markets in nearby Jacksonville, and its strategic position at the eastern edge of the Everglades National Park. The town's fortunes changed when railroad developers startedowntown in 1870. The new arrivals were not interested in trading with local farmers or fishermen, but rather with distant railroads and ports across the Gulf of Mexico. This changed Palatka's economy permanently, as fishing stopped being an important source of income and businesses became focused on developing land for cotton plantations or other industrial purposes. By 1925, Palatka had disappeared entirely from Florida history - it was merged into Jacksonville along with other towns within Jacksonville's boundaries. But despite this disappearance, Palatka has left a lasting legacy in Floridian culture: its maritime heritage remains one of the most significant factors behind many aspects of Floridian identity such as seafood consumption and coastal tourism; and its close proximity to Jacksonville makes it an ideal place to learn about Florida history while also enjoying some delicious southern cuisine
