From 1915 until 1978, there was only one type of target- the “Pineapple” target. These were round objects that had five depressions on them and could be hit from any direction.

The first gun battle in the area took place on November 12, 1836 when a group of Seminole Indians were attacking a white family. The whites shot at the Seminoles for hours, but no one was killed. On December 5, 1836, two groups of Seminoles were fighting near Palatka. One group was led by Comanche Chief Quanah Parker and the other by Tecumseh Sherman. The whites opened fire on both groups for an hour before giving up and fleeing. In late 1840s a detachment of U.S. Marines under Commodore John Ledyard fought against Native Americans at the Battle of Fort Brooke in what is now Winter Garden County. On September 26, 1849 a force of Seminole Indians attacked a small town called Micanopy while its citizens were away to attend a party in nearby Jacksonville. A total of 27 people died from Indian attack and siege; however only six white men were killed as result of friendly fire accidents caused by riflemen firing into crowdsourcing instead of proper aim).

The town of Palatka, Florida was founded in 1898 by a group ofesteaders who came from the small town of West Palm Beach, Florida. The name "Palatka" is derived from the Indian word "pala," meaning "settlement." The first settler in Palatka was John G. Gammon, who arrived on July 4, 1898. The town quickly grew and soon became a important stop on the Panama-Florida Railroad. In 1907, the town absorbed the neighboring community of Palm Harbor. In 1930, Palatka merged with neighbouring communities of Belle Glade and Boca Raton to form the city of Boca Raton. As part of this merger, the city developed its own water supply and sewer system. In 1955, Boca Raton annexed portions of Palm Beach County to form Riviera Beach County. Today, parts of both Riviera Beach County and Palm Beach County are still part of Palatka's municipal government while other sections are now within Everglades National Park or managed by private landowners
Palatka, Florida was founded in 1835 by Captain George Walton. The town quickly became a major center for the sugar industry and prospered until the devastating Seminole Wars erupted in 1842. With little choice but to evacuate their families, many Palatkanians left for new homes in Jacksonville and Tallahassee. Today, thetown is a small community located on the southern tip of Palm Beach County
