After the war,Palatka experienced a rapid growth which has continued to this day with many new businesses opening up throughout its boundaries including several medical clinics and two hospitals. Today,Palatka is one of Florida's most vibrant communities with close-knit brotherhoods, professional families, retirees and young people drawn to its cultural attractions such as its talented musicians and artisans, its vast stretches of beachfront property including world-renowned Stonington Harbor which offers both sheltered waterskiing access for powerboaters as well as great snorkeling potential for those utilizing it’s dramatic white sand beaches;and its lively nightlife that includes pubs and restaurants dating back to before Prohibition

On March 16, 1912, the town incorporated as a city and received its own tax ordinance. On July 1, 1951, the city became part of Tallahassee.
