The brothers began growing orange trees on their own property east of Oviedo on Hwy 41 near present day Orange Blossom Trail Boulevard; this led to their nickname "The Three Musketeers." In 1860 David Easley sold his interest in the business to his brother John Sowersby; however, John continued to operate it independently until 1870 when he merged with Andrew Clements’s Orangespring Company. From 1870 to 1892 Citrusland Farms operated a large orchard just north of Oviedo off US Highway 441/State Road 527 (now State Road 32). This orchard yielded more than 2 million pounds (1 metric ton) of oranges per year during these years During World War II much activity took place within and around Oviedotown centered around aircraft production at Dow Chemical’s Plant #4160 on Hwy 311 about five miles east of town along CR 321B (present day Old US Highway 431). There were also several military encampments located within or surrounding town limits including Camp Ponderosa Army Airfieldwhich served as a bombing ground for training fighter pilots during WWII In 1951 Quitman Wagon Works opened up shop adjacent to CR 321B which manufactured truck bodies for local agriculture companies such as Allis Chalmers Manufacturing Co., Swift Truck Body Co., PCL Agricultural Supply & Equipment Corp., Hillsboro Ford tractor dealership etc.. This company produced heavy construction equipment used throughout Southeast Asia including bridges over rivers Kwangtung Riverand Suriname Channel . quitman wagon works closed down circa 1975 without any major impact on local production however parts are still available online

This maritime activity led to increased contact between Spain and France which led to land grants being given to certain individuals or families including James Cook who founded what is now Oviedo on May 25th, 1810 at a spot where he estimated there would be plenty of water available for crops should the area become an isolated slave plantation settlement called Fort Caroline (now part of Tallahassee). The first settlers in Oviedo were families of English and French Huguenots who arrived in 1668. The town was named for the Oviedo River, which was an important transportation route between Spain and Florida. The first permanent English settlement in the area was on a small island near the river, which became known as Fort George. The colonists built their homes from logs that floated down the river. In 1736, Spanish traders founded a new colony at Ybor City on Tampa Bay, which became a key trade center during the Revolution. In 1821, Oviedo seceded from Florida and joined Alabama as part ofthe Seminole Wars against Mexico. After Mexico's defeat in 1848, Oviedo rejoined Florida under United States control. It remains an important agricultural community today with a population of over 60,000 people.
