Ormond Beach, Florida is a beautiful town that has been inhabited by humans since the Paleolithic era. The area now known as Ormond Beach was first settled by Indian traders in the 17th century. By 1836, the town had become home to a small military detachment stationed at Fort Caroline. During the American Civil War, Ormond Beach saw heavy fighting between Union and Confederate forces. In 1903, Ormond Beach became part of Daytona Beach County. In 1926, it was renamed for General James M. Grant, Jr., commander of Union forces during the Battle of Gettysburg. In 1939, Ormond Beach was annexed into Miami-Dade County and began to serve as its county seat. Today, Ormond Beach is an important tourist destination with a rich history and variety of attractions available for visitors to enjoy.

Ormond Beach, Florida is a small town located on the Atlantic Coast of Florida. The population was 4,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of Miami-Dade County. The town was established in 1907 by J.B. Ormond and his family as a result of the creation of a new county line in that year. Some notable residents include Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross and actress Cynthia Nixon. Ormond Beach is home to two public golf courses - one in Ocean Shores and one in Sunrise Key. It has also been known for its horse racing track, which opened in 1937 and closed in 1999; it now hosts events for children called "Ormond Beach Pony Races". The first settlers arrived from Wales around 1812 when Captain James Cook discovered the area while searching for an unknown land route between Cuba and Japan. By 1815, there were about 10 families living here including Captain George Musgrove who founded Musgrove's Harbor on Ormond Beach Road near where present day Pershing Boulevard meets US 1A (now Heaton Drive). In 1907, JB Ormond bought some land from John Auchentoshan within what is now Dolphin Square off Bayfront Avenue just east of Town Center Drive; this parcel served as the nucleus for today's downtown core with its original courthouse building still standing (built 1912). In 1915 Driscoll Brothers ran into financial troubles so they sold their interest to Trustees Claude Ritchie and Harry Houde who then formed Gulf Refining Company Limited – later renamed Gulfport Refinery Corporation – to produce gasoline, diesel fuel oil, kerosene and other products from crude oil imported aboard barges along Biscayne Bayou through Fort Myers Channel to be refined at their plant on First Street near Rotary Park before shipment via railcar down the Everglades Expressway back out into Biscayne Bayou for storage or export until such time as buyers could be found who would purchase these products for use domestically or abroad; this company became Gainesville Gas & Electric Company Incorporated with headquarters located at 811 Estero Rd., north of downtown Gainesville until 1947 when corporate headquarters moved to 601 North Main St., south of Main Street across from Supt’s Theatre before moving again to 5555 Alachua Ave., east of Homestead Rd., north of I-95’s Interchange prior to its absorption by Southern Gas Co.; this company became GAE Holdings Incorporated with current headquarters located at 501 Estero Rd., north side stadium complex lot #1) in southeast Gainesville On November 1st 1927 Hurricane Agnes struck southeastern Florida resulting in extensive damage throughout most if not all counties including much loss/ destruction inflicted upon citrus crops especially oranges but also grapefruit plantations etc… subsequently Businessman Wm C Hargrave donated $10 000 towards hurricane relief… charitable giving continued thru New Year’s Eve 1928 when another major hurricane hit southern Florida caused widespread damage amounting to over $200 000…. following suit many contributions were made during 1929 by sugar refiners Kenedy Bros Ltd Partnership consisting principally members William Fenton & Alfred Murchison viz Chairman Geo Fenton Knight Vice Chairman Arthur Purdy Secretary Percy English Treasurer Albert Lacey All donations were collected under name “Fenway Relief Society”…the society functioned successfully thru New Year’s Day 1930 when another major hurricane struck southernFlorida causing widespread damage amounting largely To property values so thoroughly destroyed that it took several years for market value returns attributable thereto plus20% administration expenses associated therewith To recover originally … finally In 1935 Fenway Relief Society No longer extant however numerous local groups continue operations under various names currently operating more than 25 different relief societies affiliated with United Way Worldwide

The name comes from the word "orion," meaning "the constellation Andromeda." J.D.'s father had emigrated from England to America in 1857 and named his son after him—Jared D'Ormond (Jared being short for John David). J.D.'s mother was American; she married J.P..GUTFELD, who owned land near Ormond Beach where they built their home at 601 South Federal Highway (today's State Road 527). Jared D'Ormond also farmed here until he sold it all in 1916 to Winton Bissell for $1 million dollars ($ when measured in dollars). bissell renamed it Parkland Farms – one of several names used by the original developers during their early yearsailing days before they moved into permanent homes around 1925 or so The first post office was established at Ormond Beach on March 3rd, 1893; that office served residents of both adjacent towns: Hialeah Peninsula on the west and Miami-Dade County on the east In 1926, Ormund Beach became an incorporated municipality with jurisdiction over portions of Coral Gables, Boca Raton, and Naples Significant influxes of people during World War II provided much needed wartime jobs such as construction work at Camp Butler (later Fort Lauderdale), which were then transported back home across county lines using military trucks Ormond Beach experienced significant growth following World War II as many Floridians relocated here due to booming population numbers throughout southern Florida
