There are also several parks within or around Ormond Beach such as Redondo Park, Churchill Park, Midway Park & Nature Preserve, Turtle Bayou Park & Wildlife Sanctuary, Sunrise Point Golf Course & Marina and Moreland Key State Recreation Area which offers boat ramps for fishing and swimming access from Roundabout Key west of town limits

In 1939, construction began on what would become Orange Bowl Stadium—now home to University of Florida football games and other events—and local businessmen donated $10,000 for its construction. By 1945,Ormond Beach had become an independent city with its own City Council and mayoralty system under which it continued to operate until 1959 when it merged into Daytona Beach municipality
Ormond Beach was founded on December 12, 1892 by J.B. Ormond and his brother-in-law W.H. Gaines as a small town in the Indian River County area of Florida. The name came from an Indian term meaning "safe place." By 1915, the population had increased to 1,000 and Ormond became a city. In 1953, it became a county seat with the creation of Indian River County. On November 17, 1984, Ormond Beach adopted its first city charter and changed its name to Jacksonville after then-Gov. John Connally signed legislation creating Jacksonville as a city limits within Indian River County The City of Jacksonville is home to many famous residents including Jaguars QB quarterback Blake Bortles and Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore
