Ormond Beach, Florida is a small town located on the Treasure Coast of Florida. It was founded in 1893 by Fenton Vinton and his wife, Eliza. Plymouth Ammunition Plant opened its doors to the public on October 1st, 1903. The plant made ammunition for the US military during World War I and World War II. In 1949, the plant was sold to Northrop Grumman Corporation and ceased production of ammunition. In 1984, Northrop Grumman Corporation closed down the plant and all operations were discontinued as well. The Plymouth Ammunition Plant was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. It currently serves as a museum with exhibits about ammunition history in Ormond Beach County.

The post-World War II boom period brought new development to Ormond Beach; homes were erected onlying sandbars overlooking Clearwater Harbor and Clearwater Bay while businesses grew such as gasoline stations, ice cream parlors and casinos became popular tourist attractions - much like they are today! After Hurricane Andrew destroyed many homes along US 1 in 1992, tourism ground to a halt until developers reworked plans for ORBEX (Ormond Beaches Equestrian Resort & Casino), which opened nearby in 2001 as one of Florida's most modern resorts! Today, business still thrives at ORBEX thanks largely to its exclusive gambling license granted by state officials - making it an especially popular destination among retirees! Although retail stores have been shrinking since the turnofthe century, neighboring Stonington does experience some modest commercial activity; this mainly consists of gas stations serving residents northward on First Street Extension (the old alignment route extending from downtown Stonington northeast towards US 1) as well as several convenience stores occupying former truck stops adjacent to I-75/SR 1 interchange eastbound just south of downtown Stonington...

Ormond Beach was first settled by the Atchafalaya Indians in the early 1600s. The area now known as Ormond Beach was part of Indian Key until it was ceded to U.S. forces in 1814 during the Seminole War. In 1835, the United States acquired Alachua County from Spain and named it for General David Gaines, who had led American forces against Spanish cannonades in Florida during the Mexican-American War. By 1840, Ormond Beach had become a center for cotton production and development due to its location on an important creek system that supplied water to plantations near Jacksonville and Tampa. The town's population reached 10,000 by 1860, but declined after slave emancipation began throughout America in 1865. By 1870, however, Ormond Beach had again become a major center with a population of 20,000+. It experienced rapid growth following World War II as servicemen returned home and key industries such as shipbuilding boomed; Ormond Beach also became known for its annual Fourth of July parade which attracts thousands of spectators every year. In recent years, though,Ormond Beach has been struggling with economic decline; however, there is still potential for growth through initiatives such as new development around the city core or via partnerships with other cities or businesses
