Ormond Beach is a small town in Palm Bay, Florida that experienced significant growth during the early 1900s as a result of its location on the Atlantic coast. The area was first inhabited by Arawak Indians and later became part of Fort Pierce. In 1892, Ormond Beach was incorporated as a village, and within two years it had become an urban center with residents working in the nearby port and factories. By 1903, however, the population of Ormond Beach had fallen to just over 100 people and it remained primarily a rural community until World War II when it grew rapidly due to its new military base. After the war, Ormond Beach became one of the most prosperous areas in Palm Bay and began to attract high-end residents who desired complete privacy for their homes. As such, development ceased throughout the 1950s and 1960s due to lack of interest from developers or market conditions.
