On October 15th 1959, Disneyland opened its doors as an attraction within Walt Disney World Resort; creating an even more vibrant community around it that continues to grow today! Downtown Orlando also experienced significant growth during this time with several new buildings being built including The Lowry Hotel annexing First Presbyterian Church which served as Walt Disney's personal residence from 1926 until his death in 1998; while also new shops were opening up including Sears & Roebuck Arcade across Euclid Street from Macready Park bounded by University Avenue/Gaston avenue NE and Third Street NW; Finally St Johns School Annex serving northeast corner between Fifth Avenue NE and Gaffney Drive SW opened its doors on February 14th 1959 - becoming one of only 2 schools in mainland United States open to students age 6 through 12!!! This rapid expansion not only put strain on existing infrastructure but also created some serious challenges given that much like today’s city there wasn’t always enough room for all these new developments! But thanks largely to Mayor Buddy Dyer’s leadership both physically and philosophicallyORLANDO experiences continued uninterrupted growth into our current day - setting us apart culturally and environmentally speaking!!!
