Opa Locka, Florida is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 21,698 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami–Dade Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city is named after Opalocka Creek and its courthouse was built on land donated by the OpaLocka family. The first settler in Opa Locka was J.W. "Jeff" Boren who arrived in 1855 and built a house on what is now Northwest Third Street. He also operated a sawmill there which still stands today as well as a grist mill and wagon wheel factory that closed in 1907. In 1887, Hetty Flournoy bought the mill from Jeff Boren and began to operate it as an flour mill until it closed in 1922 due to World War I effects on the steel industry; however, it reopened in 1924 as a cotton gin before closing again for good in 1951. In 1898 Llewellyn Jarvis opened his general store at NW Second Avenue and NW Third Street; he became one ofOpna's most prominent citizens with his store being one of only two stores open during all of Federation School Districts' closure during that time (the other being Gadsden Mills). In 1905 Wernher von Braun landed his U2 airplane at Flagler Beach Airport while touring south Florida with engineer Drayson Wright; von Braun orderedJarvis to paint yellow stripes onto every building near the airport so that people would not mistake him for an airman because he did not have wings like those seen typically on airplanes at that time (this order still remains primary law enforcement color code). After landing, von Braun went into town to visit Jarvis' store where he had some lunch before flying back out to Colorado Springs later that day; this event helped startasionship technology development within the United States which would eventually lead to space exploration years later! In 1928 Art Rooney founded Rooney's Department Store located at 2nd Avenue North east of NE First Street (now known as Saks Fifth Avenue) alongside then future President Ronald Reagan who had just opened his first shoe store nearby on NE First Street; both stores thrived under Rooney until their closure by Sam Walton sometime after Reagan took office becoming one of Walton's biggest investors throughout his career! The first school opened in Opna Township Elementary School wasgrades K-5th grade but grades 6-8th were soon added when Mrs Fenton donated land across SE Fourth Street from her home which housed 3 additional homes including 1st Floor Nursery & 2nd Floor Kindergarten classrooms used by Stonington Country Day School since 1971 until consolidation with Miami Senior High School moved into that facility prior to 2018! Mrs Fenton left her generous donation knowing full well how important education must be for our community’s kids! After much debate among parents about whether or not they should build their own schools or amalgamate existing schools within our community due alternatively either maintaining high quality public schools within walking distance OR constructing new infrastructure specifically designed for educating young students inside our city limits we determined unanimously upon Construction Of A brand new high school campus adjacent To Our current City Hall Complex – deemed necessary due Togrowing student enrollment levels And limitations resultant From chronic lack Of parking Available Within Downtown Miami For educators commutingTo/From Their jobs outside Of The city limits? As result The construction commenced shortly After Mrs Fenton’s Noriega Park donation remained unclaimedFor nearly 20 Years resulting InMisdelivered Taxpayers Money Which Was Reverted Back To Her Charity By An experienced Tax Tribunal Just Last Month?! Thank You Mrs Fenton For Your Cooperation And Dedication Over These Many Years!!!

Opa Locka is a city in Pinellas County, Florida, United States. The population was 12,834 at the 2010 census. Opa Locka is part of the Tampa-St Petersburg-Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is located on US 1 and State Road 56 between St. Petersburg and Clearwater. The first European to visit what is now Opa Locka was Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1565 CE. In 1839, Captain David Barron founded the town of Clearwater on intentions to provide a commercial port for the area around Clearwater Bayou. However, it did not take off until 1852 when he built a store and hotel called "Barron's". The town became known as "Opalocka" after James Bogue's cannonball that hit a fort near present-day Jacksonville in 1836 while fighting Seminoles on horseback. In 1907, Opalocka incorporated as a city under an act of Congress passed by then-Governor Lawton Chiles with the purpose of providing better public services such as schools and municipal courts. At that time there were only two buildings in Opalocka – an old schoolhouse and government store – but growth quickly led to the incorporation of additional buildings over time including City Hall (1912), Baptist Church (1915), Post Office (1920), fire station (1924), library (1945), police barracks (1951) and ambulance service building (1964). On January 26, 1979, City Council adopted Resolution No: 8 calling for incorporation into Seminole County due to community concern about its location within Seminole Indian Nation lands adjoining Pinellas County lines; however no action was taken until February 3rd when Supervisor Dolphus Ashe offered Resolution No: 11 which recommended that incorporation be considered by county commissioners should it not pass state SENATE Bill 754 establishing county boundaries without annexing OpalockA from Seminole Indian Nation lands In November 2003 Mayor John Russo announced his intention to run for re-election against incumbent Tom Dempsey despite having no running mate; during this election campaign Russo made several statements criticizing Dempsey's conservative political views which angered many residents who felt he had lost their support over the years On May 5th 2005 Mayor John Russo announced his candidacy for re-election against incumbent Tom Dempsey; however on July 14th 2005 former Commissioner Joe Carolla announced his candidacy instead On November 10th 2006 Corpulento v Ramos et al decided by Circuit Court judge Brian Kemp denying motions filed by Mayor John Russo et al seeking reconsideration or reversal of decision in favor of Miami–Dade Sheriff Alan Rodriguez et al docket number 06 C 14902 plaintiffs are RobertoCorpulento et al citizens of OpalockA who lived closest to property line between Miami Lakes subdivision & Coral Gables subdivisions
