Oldsmar, Florida is a small town located in Hillsborough County, Florida. The population was 9,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa–St Petersburg–Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. Oldsmar is known for its shrimp industry and its annual Fishfest which features boat races and contests related to fishing. The town was founded in 1868 by settlers from Tennessee. In 1925, it became one of two communities in Hillsborough County to be incorporated as a municipality. The first mayor of Oldsmar was W C Burchill who served until his death in 1933. Other early mayors were Dr J H Coulter (1935-1938), Mrs F E Gwynn (1939-1945) and Mr P A Ziegler (1947-1950). The town's first store was built on Race Street in 1868 and it continued to grow rapidly due to its importance as a trade center for the surrounding area. By 1915, there were six stores in Oldsmar with a population of 3,000 people. The shrimp industry played an important role in the town's growth throughout the years and eventually led to the construction of several shrimp ponds acrosstown which continue to generate income today. In 1925, Oldsmar became one of two communities in Hillsborough County to be incorporated as a municipality when it amalgamated with neighboring Dunedin. At that time, it had a population of 705 people and consisted of just 12 businesses including four grocery stores and five restaurants. Over time, however, the incorporation process has resulted in increased development opportunities for Oldsmar with several new retail corridors being developed within town limits over the past few decades including Race Road into neighbouring Dunedin and US 1A north along Lake Okeechobee into Miramar Beach where two additional shopping malls have been built since 2000 alone - both Shopping Centers International (SCI) - giving Oldsmar an even greater competitive edge when competing against nearby towns such as Miramar Beach or Gulfport Shipyards Incorporated (GSPI).

Oldsmar, Florida is a town located in Monroe County, Florida, United States. It was founded in 1892 by the merger of two nearby villages, Oldsmar and Belleview. The town had a population of 1,752 as of the 2010 census. The first post office in Oldsmar was established on November 12, 1892. The name for the village merged with that for Oldsmar to form the present-day town. The original settlers were farmers who came from Kentucky and Tennessee. cotton plantations were important early contributors to their economy. A sawmill and grist mill were built in 1902; these mills served as principal means of obtaining income until World War II when they became less important due to advances in transportation and production methods. In 1944, Oldsmar voters approved an ordinance establishing a fire protection district which provided services through eight Volunteer Fire Department stations including one at Main Street near the high school which opened on October 15th of that year Belleview was also founded in 1892 by merger of two nearby villages: Belleair (now part of Jacksonville) and Wellington (now part of Fort Myers). According to legend, both villages were named after beautiful young women who had attracted many men to visit them during their summertime visits from nearby Jacksonville. When it became apparent that these visitors would not stay long enough for lunch, the women decided to open up shop themselves! Belleair had several stores while Wellington had a hotel/grill restaurant where villagers could dine out or order cooked meals from local chefs nightly during their stay. Although no longer extant as independent villages today - both have been annexed into Oldsmar - their names are still retained by portions of thetown’s overall community identity today
