Oldsmar, Florida is a small town located in Hillsborough County,Florida. It is bordered by Pinellas County to the north and east, Pasco County to the south,and Brevard County to the west. The population of Oldsmar was 1,521 as of 2010. The first gun target shooting club in Oldsmar was founded in 1916. At that time there were only shotguns available for target shooting and no rifles or handguns. In 1937 there was a gun show held at the old A&P grocery store which attracted many people from around Tampa Bay area to shoot guns. That year also saw the first annual rifle and handgun match held at Calvary Baptist Church on US-1 near Oldsmar Boulevard. As more people started owning firearms they began opening their own target ranges across Tampa Bay Area and throughout Florida which led to today’s Gun Range Complex located on New River Road just outside of town (just off I-75). Today,gun range membership is open to anyone who owns a firearm including those without a permit from local law enforcement agencies or state licensing agencies as well as civilians with permission from their homeowners association or municipality. There are over 100 targets ranging in size from .22LR up to .308 Winchester caliber! In addition, there are 20+ chairs and benches for shooters to use while waiting their turn for a session or during breaks between sessions if desired. Many times you can find live squirrels running through some of the traps during sessions too!

Oldsmar is a town in Duval County, Florida, United States. The population was 3,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. The first Oldsmar settlers were families from Georgia who arrived in 1839. A post office was established in 1840, and by 1851 it had become a small town with a store and two churches. In 1865, local citizens built the first school in what is now Oldsmar. By 1870, there were four stores and fifty-six residents. The population exploded when an irrigation canal was built through this area in 1881; farmers floods came to check out the new land and laid down miles of levee along the canal for fear of erosion by the stream that flowed behind it. The townsite name may derive from "Oldsmarr" or "Oaksmarr." According to one source, this place got its name because (1) trees near the original town site had been cut down so man could get a better view of Ft Myers on their property; (2) another settler named Oakmarr saw some strange behavior around these trees and thought they might be talking to someone big; and (3) since there were no other settlements nearby with that name then either, people shortened it to Oaksmar or just called it Oaks because of all those trees around it. In 1911 Jno Coker began operating a phosphate mine northeast of Oldsmar; as production increased demand for phosphate led to heavy development throughout Duval County Courthouse Square including construction of roads leading up into surrounding communities such as Ocala and Pensacola followed by citrus growing acreage outside city limits creating hundreds more jobs over time which finally turned Oldsmarr into an incorporated municipality on October 1st 1922/1923 thereby ending any remaining ties with Jno Coker Mine company
