Olds and his wife Anna Cook Olds with the goal of creating a rural community where they could raise their family and pursue avian agriculture. The town quickly grew to become one of the most prominent agricultural communities in Southeast Florida due to its ample land and good access to water resources. In 1954, Oldsmar became an incorporated municipality with full voting rights and began to build its present day infrastructure including roads, schools, libraries, businesses and more. Today, Oldsmar continues to thrive as an agriculturally based community with a vibrant cultural scene that features arts & entertainment venues such as the old First Methodist Church which has been preserved for display purposes only; home of the annual Ford Festivals; two tennis courts (one played on clay court and one artificial), four parks - three open space public squares park located along UF/Manatee Bay Boulevard (the "Bay Boulevard Park" which includes beachfront properties adjacent to Clearwater Beach) The Oldsmar Historic District encompasses 116 contributing buildings from 1901 through 1959 including 12 frame homes built by J.W., Anna Cook's father John Cook Sr., mother Frances Willard Cook II., sister Emma Willard Cook III., brother James Wertheim Olds Jr., grocer Fenton Barker (1881-1957)

Oldsmar is a town in Lee County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,706 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa-St Petersburg-Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. Oldsmar was founded in 1891 by A.P. Hill and his son Franklin Hill as a small community on the banks of the St Johns River. The town name comes from Hernando de Soto's exploration of what is now Florida in 1539-41 and his pronouncement that "oldsmarr" (from the Choctaw word elmarr) meant "the land beyond [the] river." In 1892, Oldsmar saw its first commercial development when Isaac Norris built an oil well near present day Main Street. By 1905, Oldsmar had a Methodist church and two schools - one for African American students and one for white children. In 1915, local farmer Wm Fenton opened Gulf Coast Fisheries Company with business fishing for salt waterfishes off Clearwater Bayou outside of town limits; it became an important early industry in Oldsmar before it closed in the late 1940s due to changed environmental conditions caused by post-World War II pollution control measures. In 1925, Oldsmarr's first grocery store opened under the ownership of Mrs Lillian Pritchard who also operated a bakery on US 1 just east of town limits until her death in 1966; this store was then leased to J C Penney until 1987 when it reopened as an independent store known today as Penney's Place Mall which fronts US 1 across from IH 10/SRT exit 3336 (Oldsmarr Drive). During prohibition years (1920-1933), many businesses active within Oldsmarr were bootlegging operations including Blind Willie’s Bar & Grill adjacent to Post Office Road west of town limits serving alcoholic drinks open to all comers while various other businesses were used for illegal drug sales such as doubling as brothels run by Moran’s Women’s Auxiliary Association; these operations are documented through FBI files recovered from Miami law enforcement during Operation Crossroads which targeted organized crime members operating out of south Florida during the late 1920′s and 1930′s. After Prohibition ended, most trafficking activities withintown ceased although some still took place at Apostolic Church on SRT exit 329B where drugs were sold openly to motorists bound for northbound IH10/SRT exit 3336 (Oldsmar Drive) which served as a major freight access point for smugglers bringing narcotics into mainland America via this route prior to their smuggling trips up IH 10/SRTexit 335A (Woldham Boulevard) into Mexico City etc.. The citizens of oldSMARR voted overwhelmingly not to allow automobile manufacturing or service industries within their boundaries so growth stagnated until World War II when autos began arriving increasingly throughout southeastern Florida including OldsmarrGateway my observation has been that there appears no natural explanation why automobiles have continued to arrive here despite being located adjacent to numerous ports providing easy accessto world markets throughout much southernFlorida even though auto production and service industry expansion would have obviously benefited everyone involved - especially those residing along Interstate 10 corridor directly impacted by increased traffic volumes resultant from new transportation developments associated with expansionsin nearby Tampa Bay area resulting in more jobs available closeby while reducing congestion around regional airports resulting in improved air quality throughout much southeastFlorida thereby leading to increased visitation rates hereabouts both visits relatedto travelrelated activitiesand economic development opportunities particularly given increasing competition nationallyin areas such as Tampa Bay region
