The Oldsmar Pistol and Rifle Club was founded in 1892. The club purchased a rifle from A.H. Thurston of Daytona Beach in 1903 and pistols from L.E. Atwater of Stonington, Connecticut in 1907-08. In 1912 the club imported a Winchester Model 1895 .22 caliber rifle from England. In 1925, the pistol & rifle club voted to add shotguns to their library inventory, and in 1927 they became members of the Florida State Rifle Association (FSRA). They continued to sell firearms through membership dues until 1959 when they disbanded due to lack of support from their members.
Oldsmar is a small town in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. The population was 6,569 at the 2010 census. It lies on State Road A1A east of the city of West Palm Beach. The name "Oldsmar" is derived from Spanish words meaning "old fort." Oldsmar was founded in 1875 by J.P. Morgan and his partners as a citrus plantation village on Live Oak Key Peninsula, about 12 miles (19 km) northeast of West Palm Beach and 8 miles (13 km) south of Boca Raton. The post office in Oldsmar opened in 1876 and remained open until 1959; it was then renamed Webbville after former Postmaster General Edwin Webb. The first store in Oldsmar was built by Aitken & Partners on Main Street in 1878 and served as the nucleus for what would become an agricultural economy with large fruit crops and cattle operations for local livestock raisers. In 1907, Standard Oil Company constructed a refinery at Corpus Christi Point on Live Oak Key Peninsula which led to an increase in industrial production around the state including Inland Empire Manufacturing Company's old plant near Nokomis Creek that supplied gasoline to stations throughout southern Florida; this plant closed its doors following World War II when national oil supplies dwindled due to the war effort. By 1925, only three small farms still operated within the community limits: one farm supplying milk to area restaurants, one raising chickens for eggs and another growing fruits and vegetables; these days only five or six farms remain producing some type of agricultural product off-the-grid thanks to modern technology like irrigation systems through rain gardens or drip systems summerizing with organic matter during winter months; The community’s nickname “The Fort” originated because it had been located at the mouth of Live Oak Key Creek on both East Coast Railroad tracks northward from Boca Raton Junction before Middleton placed a sandbag wall across the stream bed late into World War I – thus preventing German submarines from sneaking up behind American ships moored offshore while they were transiting between ports along South Florida’s eastern seaboard – enabling Uboat commanders operating out of Jacksonville Naval Shipyard during these years to target merchant vessels anchored offshore without having their targets towed into port where they could be examined by naval personnel prior to launch if needed for night operations against warships off Tampa Bay or Pensacola Harbor In 1948–49 construction began on Interstate 95 bypassing downtown Oldsmar through Webbville with exit #2 now known as US 1A/State Road A1A leading directly onto Rollins Island just outside Of all town limits until I-95 designation changed back around 2000 giving access once again back inside town limits past St Pete Rd
