In 1911, Aulden donated land along MacArthur Boulevard north of Route 66 to build a school which would serve as both an elementary and secondary school throughout Pinellas County; this donation became known as "Aulden School District No. 1". At its peak during World War II, Oakland Park had over 20 businesses including dairies, meatpacking plants, gasoline stations and other services catering to motorists on I-4 between St Petersburg and Clearwater; many functions were held outdoors on open fields or at local parks such as South Lake Tahoe Parkway Drive near Veterans Memorial Coliseum where live entertainment often took place before games between teams from those states or other Southeast Divisional teams playing out west (e example: Pensacola Red Sox vs Baltimore Orioles). Many post-war era residents returned to Oakland Park after serving in military service overseas; some shops still operate today within close proximity to Interstate 4 exit 232 off US-1/State Road 8 just outside Ofala village limits - one such store being Don White’s Hardware located at mile marker 231 on Dixie Highway immediately adjacent to SR-8 exit 233 just south of city limits - open daily 9am-5pm year round
