In 1886 $5 million was paid for 100 acres west of town by J P Morgan to create Fort Morgan State Park which included Presque Isle Key In 1902 Northport had its first day light parade In 1907 downtown built a water tower to feed into Lake Monroe On December 1st 1927 Mayor Harry England announced that Northport would be incorporated as a city In 1928 incorporation raised $2 million from businesses within town limits to build new municipal buildings including City Hall Annex which became home to City Council Chambers today That same year also saw groundbreaking for US 101W which runs through downtown today connecting Jacksonville with Gainesville
