North Port, Florida is a town located in Alachua County, Florida, United States. The population was 7,829 at the 2000 census. North Port is part of the Jacksonville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1892 and incorporated as a town on January 15, 1893. It became an unincorporated village on December 1, 1907. The first post office in North Port was established on July 14, 1892. The name of the original townspeople was unknown but they met to form a town when they traveled to Cape Canaveral to take possession of Utopia Landing from David Rumsey. They named their new settlement after Captain John Fortunato Nelson who had manned HMS "Eagle" during the Spanish-American War with distinction and won praise from Admiral Dewey for his bravery and singlehanded battle against Spanish forces at Puerto Rico's San Juan de la Vega on June 10th 1898 while under the command of Commodore John Rodgers.Captain Nelson died suddenly while still aboard "Eagle" while en route back to England after returning from that war adventure He is buried in Fort Pierce National Cemetery #1 alongside other members of HMS "Eagle". Captain Nelson's wife Emma (née Brown) also died during those years and is buried there as well along with their son Alfred Fortunato Nelson House now occupies this site which once housed the post office and several other buildings including an armory where cannons were stored for use against pirates or Seminoles During World War II many Naval personnel were stationed here before being sent overseas After World War II community growth slowed until the late 1990s when Interstate 95 replaced US 41 as Florida's primary east-west highway and increased visitation by people moving into inland communities such as Gainesville and Lakeland; NorthPort experienced significant growth again starting in earnest during early 2000s due largely to its location within I-95 corridor which has made it easier for tourists/workers commuting into Jacksonville to reach NorthPort than ever before

This new technology increased accuracy while reducing weight, making it more efficient for users who wished to carry their rifles further distances without sacrificing power or range. This new technology would later be implemented into other firearms such as the AK47 and Glock 17 pistols, eventually becoming standardized across all firearms manufactures. The popularity of these Firearms led to increased demand for Ar 15 Upper Receivers, which in turn has helped fuel their continued popularity today!

In 1906 it became an incorporated municipality and in 1912 it became a city with its own mayor and city council. The city was annexed to Sarasota County in 1958, and since then has been known as North Port City. The community of NorthPort sprang up around two landing sites for409 passengers from New York City steamed into Tampa Bay on July 4, 1892 during what is now considered to be America's first ocean voyage In 1906 the town became an incorporated municipality when it seceded from neighboring Clearwater after disagreements about taxes In 1912 NorthPort successfully petitioned for incorporation as a city due to strong growth potential In 1958 annexation occurred to form adjacent Sarasota County Since then NorthPort has experienced rapid growth with over 20% population increase each decade
In 1837, the first Seminole War began when two groups of Seminoles attacked Fort Donelson. The United States military responded with a series of attacks and victories that eventually drove the Seminoles from Florida. In 1865, following the end of the American Civil War, Congress passed an act to give all Native Americans in Florida except for those living on Indian reservations a choice between citizenship in the United States or adoption by white settlers. Nearly all of the Seminole population chose adoption, and many moved to South Carolina and Alabama. By 1920, only about 10 percent of Seminoles remained in Florida; most had either died or emigrated to other parts of America.
