The first Licensed Air Gun Dealer in Palm Beach County was Harry Kapp at 915 W 8th St in 1935. This business was known as the Kapp Firearms & Ammunition Company and it manufactured both calibers (12 gauge and 18 gauge) of handguns as well as pellets (for target shooting). In 1940, Harry Kapp passed away but his son John continued the company until 1951. At this time, John Kapp had two sons, Rick and Danforth who also ran the business together. In 1955, Rick Kapp retired from the business after 35 years of service while Danforth took over running it until his death in 1984. During this time period, Rick Kapp’s son-in-law Don Steigerwald became proprietor of Steigerwald’s Sporting Goods at 401 N Central Ave., which is now home to several local gun shops including NRA Shop #2A on Central Ave., Steigerwald’s Custom Shotgun Emporium on Orange Blossom Trail behind Walmartand several other firearms stores located throughout town . In 1971 Don Steigerwald sold his interest in the company to Marvin Pettiatt who operated it under The Pistolero AirGun Store from then on until 1990 when he closed shop due to financial problems. Marvin Pettiatt’s son Mark succeeded him and continued operating The Pistolero AirGun Store until 2003 when he too closed shop due to economic difficulties; however, Mark reopened his store again sometime later with new ownership which continues today under new name “Mark's Guns & Ammo” . The first licensed commercial producer of airguns in Palm Beach County was Empire Arms Corporation located at 1010 S State Rd #3015 which produced 12 gauge rifles starting in 1944. Empire Arms also manufactured pellet guns starting in 1945 but these products were not very successful because they were not very consistent with each other or with ammunition available at that time. After being unsuccessful with their rifle production efforts, Empire Arms discontinued all pellet gun sales during World War II due to government regulation prohibiting manufacturing those guns without a special license . After WWII ended there wasn't much demand for airguns so manufacturers turned their attention towards creating more accurate revolver pistols instead although some success did eventually occur such as Imperial Arms producing high quality revolvers like These pistols are often included among armament museum collections today: Empire Arms revolvers started out as low quality copies made by armorers trying to get around government regulations against making real firearms using imitation parts . However over time these pistol designs evolved into high quality models that remain popular today: However there were also some failures along the way such as Empire Arms producing what is now considered one of history's worst handguns called "The Gator" which looked nothing like any actual firearm yet managed TO sell thousands upon thousands units despite its numerous flaws including an exposed barrel and poor fit/finish . In fact even though many people bought these guns none worked reliably whatsoever - something you would expect if you're buying a knockoff!
