In the early 1900s, North Miami was a small town in Broward County, Florida. It was known as a Fishing and Hunting destination because of its abundance of fish and large game animals. Firearms were not common in this rural area, but there were some gunsmiths who would make custom firearms for local hunters. In 1922, theimar assassination attempt on president Grover Cleveland led to an increase in security around the United States. This led to the creation of the National Firearms Act (NFA) which banned any type of automatic firearm except those registered with the federal government. The ban made it illegal for citizens of North Miami to own automatic firearms. However, despite the law being in place, many people continued to own Automatic Firearms including George "Pete" O'Malley who owned three handguns and two shotguns in 1923. In 1924, O'Malley was convicted of violating NFA and fined $1,000. He appealed his case but lost and his handgun license was revoked. However, he continued to possess his other guns until he died in 1985
North Miami, Florida is a city in the U.S. state of Florida and is part of Miami-Dade County. The population was 1,787 at the 2000 census. North Miami is located on Biscayne Bay, about 15 miles (24 km) east of downtown Miami and 25 miles (40 km) south of Fort Lauderdale. It borders to the north by Coconut Grove and to the northeast by Downtown Miami Beach. The area that would become North Miami was first inhabited by Paleo-Indian people who hunted large animals such as deer, bear, and elephant during the Middle Archaic period (approximately 8500 BC-4000 BC). The first European colonists arrived in 1665 with Bartholomew Gosnold's voyage under Captain Christopher Young from Plymouth Colony in England. They named their new settlement Fort Brooke after General George Washington's military headquarters at Fort Brooke on Key Biscayne Island off the coast of South America at that time. By 1800, Spanish colonists had moved into what became NorthMiami from Havana Cuba and founded Ponce de León Key Largo which included present day Everglades National Park along with most of what would become NorthMiami including much of today's Sunny Isles Beach neighborhood. In 1865, commissionaire David Stroud purchased 3/4 mile (1 km) of land extending inland from Biscayne Bay for $225 ($ in dollars). He built a small cottage called "Deborah" on this property which still stands today as one of only a few examples remaining from that era in American history! In 1892 Stroud donated 2 acres (0.8 ha) adjacent to his house to establish Coral Gables Recreation Ground; it served as an open-air pool until 1925 when it was closed due to lack of use following heavy summer rainfall flooding which damaged many homes and caused extensive damage to plants and trees thereon! In 1923 Commissioner Charles Graves renamed US 26 highway "Stroud Boulevard" in honor of David Stroud! This donation also helped contribute greatly towards allowing modern sports facilities such as Pro Wrestling Hall Of Fame Museum & Exhibition Center & Dolphin Stadium now located just east side Pembroke Pines Blvd., southwest corner Dixie Highway - nearly across street from Deborah - now home field for professional baseball/softball teams since 1959 etc... Over time residents have started calling this area simply "North Miami", although some still refer specifically toDeborah Road or even just 'South Avenue' within reason... The original name given heretofore may have been occasioned more by historical curiosity than anything else :-)

North Miami, Florida is located in Miami-Dade County and is part of the Greater Miami metropolitan area. The population was 3,756 at the 2010 census. NorthMiami is bordered to the north by Biscayne Bay, to the east by Kendall Park, to the south by Overtown and to the west by MidtownMiami. It has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen Climate Classification: "Cfa"), with slightly more extreme cold temperatures than average. The city was founded on December 12th, 1927 by Stephanus Wessels as North Miami Beach after he bought 460 acres of land from Abraham Lincoln in what is now Overtown. The first development in North Miami Beach was called Belle Isle which developed into a streetcar suburb of South Beach. In 1958, under Mayor Manuel Diaz and City Manager Joseph Pugh, North Miami Beach began planning for an airport that would serve their town as well as other areas within Dade County including Everglades National Park and Biscayne Bay. In 1961 plans were made for an airport that would be 1,000 feet long and 100 feet wide with runways measuring 30 minutes each way. After years of delays due to environmental concerns and opposition from both local residents and developers, construction began on Northwest Airlines Flight 847 on October 10th of that year which served as a symbol for how far forward NorthMiami had come since its earliest days. On November 6th of that year Mayor Diaz announced plans for a new shopping mall that would include 500 stores including Sears Roebuck & Co., JCPenney & Co., Macy’s Incorporated & Kmart Corporation amongst others The mall opened in 1973 named after then-Mayor Diaz’s wife Dolores Perez who died three years earlier while he was still mayor Diaz also announced plans for a new downtown district which would house up to 100 million dollar worth of businesses including luxury hotels such as Marriott International and Hilton Hotels Corporation Ltd., department stores such as Sears Roebuck & Co., JCPenney & Co., Macy’s Incorporated & Kmart Corporation amongst others The downtown district opened in 1977 named after then-Mayor Diaz’s father Joaquin Perez who had been mayor from 1972 until his death five years earlier After serving two terms as Mayor of NorthMiami Beach between 1989-1997 under then-City Councilman Pedro Menendez (who later became Mayor Pro Tem), Zephyr Teachout won election against her predecessor John Capers in 1997 becoming the first female mayor in South Florida history During her term she successfully passed various controversial ordinances such as one requiring all new homes built over ten thousand square feet have air conditioning or face fines up to $5k per violation On January 5th 2003 Zephyr Teachout announced her intent to run for re-election against incumbent mayoral candidate Alberto Ramos but failed to win when she gained only 44% of the vote
